ISU 31 - Toledo 24

I think this game will be grind. We will have to really come to play. Toledo has good size, good talent and with the great weather we can't count on our depth as teams won't have to sub b/c of heat/fatigue.

Toledo's anything goes offense and experienced talented O-Line will cause our young defense some fits and we will give up some big plays, but it will be a great learning experience that with 10 days before next game will give D-Mac & team things to get fixed early in the season.

Offense will disapoint some who underestimate Toledo's D. They have good size (ht & wt) everywhere but LB. We will move the ball but will stall out more than some might expect. Expect decent running game, but still inconsistent. Passing game will give us the points and the win.

I'm going ISU 24 Toledo 17. I also think that we'll struggle on offense more than people think because of complex blitz packages but we'll use the screen and draw to break that getting us the win. I think we'll score fewer points than other people think because of the rule changes. Stevie has a big night, and we see a few carries out of Johnson and Scales as well.

My other prediction is that people will be talking about how we didn't blow them away and the rest of the season is going to be a total bust, just like Illinois State last year.

This one is going to be battle the entire game. Lots of new players for both teams will lead to some mistakes and big plays.

I am hoping for a larger margin of vicotry, but something inside me says its going to be a very tough win for our team. But I believe in the end our offense will pull us through.

Go STATE

It would be awesome on first play Bret goes back and throws a bomb to Mr Achilles Jon Davis for a touchdown.

It may be a tight game just due to the fact its the first of the season. In the past, we may have fizzled out win-wise in the season, but the players got better individually. Gelling and a positive fiery attitude really paves the way.

A TD bomb from Meyer to anyone on the first posession of the game would send JTS into a frenzy, personally I am more excited to see what Josh Johnson can do...and IF Scales gets to play as I have heard.

Any guesses what game of the season, regardless of record, someone will post on this board calling for Mac's head?

Because many folks are just expecting a cake walk...it won't surprise me if its 3rd quarter tonight. But my official prediction is that it will be week 3

Meyer throws three touchdowns and the cyclones only commit one turnover, while causing two on the defensive end. ISU wins the game and the turnover battle. This game is a must win with the rest of our schedule this year.

You are right in line with my expectations.... Two more TD's in the record setting tandem Meyer to Blythe. Third to a TE

Josh Johnson scores TD and gives Clones confidence that we have a RB (besides 2 yard TD Ryan) that can score inside the 10.

One other pick...Lee Tibbs will play much of second half at left tackle and emerge as starter by week 3

The dream I had last night says 38-35, with the Rockets battling to the last minute, but then again, the stadium was indoors, and the team we were playing kept switching from Toledo to UNI, and the QB was a woman. :Swirl:

My gut instinct is sticking with 38-7. Toledo scores a quick one after they win the toss, but the Cyclones never look back, as the secondary puts in a surprise performance.

Go Cyclones!

I'm going to have to go with ISU 31 Toledo 21. The D will struggle a little bit, but the offense should move the ball really well. ISU has the lead from start to finish.

we will be down early from a turnover and line control but will manage to get out of the deficit when Brett starts to roll out on some play action.

I keep hearing a lot about Toledo's high powered offense, but very little about their NEW quarterback. Even if the guy is poised, I think that is a BIG factor when playing a game on the road to a Big 12 team. I think it is worth at least three stalled drives and one or two turnovers. ISU 42 Toledo 21. Let me qualify that by saying that Toledo is not your typical first game of the year, and I wouldn't be surprised if it's very close. But if I were a Toledo fan, I would be most nervous about my quarterback.
