I hit this point a few years ago at 28 or so and it changed my life. It used to be after a loss I couldn't talk to anyone the rest of the day. Now, I realize, oh well, there's nothing I could have done to changed the outcast and there's not enough life to waste a full day pouting (it has nothing to do with apathy toward the program, by the way, strictly just a different outlook on life). I'm still bummed when we lose and the highs are still just as high when we when, but I've learned to move past the losses pretty quickly now.

Testify! I was the exact same way and have evolved to the same point when it comes to "my team(s)" losing today.

My burning desire to still play video games. I love them. We don't have children yet, but I'm sure when they come my video game playing will decrease...at least for a little while.

As for nose hair...I pluck them suckers. EVERY. LAST. ONE.

Give it up and buy a decent set of trimmers. Plucking them out could cause some pretty serious infections.

I can barely remember my age anymore. And I'm only 23, so I can still drink and recover super easily and I have the worlds fastest metabolism. Pretty sweet.

My drive for "romance" is amazingly strong still. So that's a plus

I am surprised that I've lost the high end of my lung capacity. I can still jog all day, but any sprint work and I just don't have that gear any longer

Anyone else take a deep breath after reading this one?

I managed a bit further, maybe early 30's. Used to be I LIVED for Tuesdays/Saturdays when most of the games were on. Used to be in front of the TV on my knees wretched by the game. Then poof, just sort didn't matter as much.

Coincidentally enough - that was Morgan and McDermott years when we generally weren't all that great. Plenty of times I would forget or not even know there was a game any given night.

That only changed recently (wonder why?) But now I find that I really can't stand the stress of close big games - and sometimes don't even watch, or watch later (maybe or many not knowing the final). I'll be honest - I got so wound up watching the OSU home game last season and frustrated by our play early - I turned it off and didn't even know we won til the following Monday...

So many things that come to mind, quite a few already mentioned. I can think of numerous others.
And, for a change, I'm not going to list each of them in ranked order!

Not today, anyway.

A surprise to me, within past five years or so, I relate more and more what Brooks said in "The Shawshank Redemption": “The world went and got itself in a big damn hurry.â€￾

I guess I’m too old for that sort of nonsense anymore.

I noticed somewhere along the line that beautiful young woman I married did a wife-swap on me. Now I have to be extra careful thoughtful and respectful, so I don't lose the silver haired gal with me now. Especially since no one could stand that fat bald old cuss that gawks at me every morning in the bathroom mirror. At least I don't feel anywhere close to as bad as that old coot looks.

Drinking and getting a nasty hangover is another good one. I can't fathom the college days of drinking heavily, sleeping it off, and doing it again. If I have a few too many now I feel like I got hit by a truck for at least a day.

Wow, I'm surprised how old some of you are! Don't take this the wrong way, I just assume most people on internet forums aren't that old, don't know technology all that well, don't keep up with trends. You all are bucking that train of thought I had. I hope I keep up with it as I age as well as you all have.

What surprises me is my taste buds. Didn't care for vegetables, only liked white bread growing up, when I got to college all I drank was cheap beer and cheap booze.
Now I love oats, veggies (especially gardening and canning), love good craft beer and whiskeys.

Yep. If I overdo it on Friday night then my whole weekend is shot.

This is entirely to do with the fact that each successive year is less of a % of your existence. At 10 years old a year was 10% of your life, at 45 it is only 2.2% of your life. Things will only seem to get faster until the end...

Yeah, I know that, still surprises me how fast it goes.

Hey, man. We are Iowa State, birthplace of the computer. We were at ISU when we used IBM punch cards. We learned technology from the beginning so the stuff that is out now is just kid's stuff!

Seriously, Iowa State did prepare us very well for all the wonderful technology that has come down the road. I feel very lucky to live through this time period in history.

Before I came to ISU I used a DecWriter at Wazzu that was hardwired to the campus mainframe, two buildings over. Reams and reams (and reams) of wide green/white tractor feed paper. I probably killed a thousand trees a month with all that paper.

I also worked in an accounting function in SF where the data entry operators were in a clean room, and the computer took up two more rooms and used tapes.

Then again, I'm still trying to figure out my smart phone that is apparently smarter than I am. I only gave up my clamshell last spring. ;)

Some of us old fogies do try!

Missed the punch cards (barely) THANK GOD! PCs were few and far between. Spent many a night at the VAX labs in Physics or Science II.

-Remember when going out at 10:00 PM seemed early? I'd say that's about when people are checking the time and ready to head home anymore.

-I used to hate yard work and now I absolutely love it! It's my own quiet time.

-I've run out of giving a ****s with stupid people.

I hate living with the guilt of the mean or stupid **** I did as a kid and now even as an adult because Im more aware of how myself and the world works even though I don't know how to make it work. Sounds stupid I know but just one of the more personal things Ive found about myself as I age.
