Tyler Catalina, the Rhode Island grad transfer who has signed with Iowa State, is apparently still getting scholarship offers.

Last night, his brother tweeted out that additional offers have come in from Florida and Missouri.

Per a source, Iowa State is currently on its way to Rhode Island to talk.

Catalina is a grad transfer, which means that he never signed an LOI with ISU, just a financial aid agreement, that is only conference binding. So technically he can go somewhere else as long as it is outside of the Big 12.

Iowa State isn't expecting to lose him but obviously this is a story to keep an eye on over the next few weeks.

Exciting that he is that caliber of a player, scary that he can go a lot of places not named ISU.

Hopefully the staff can keep him on board!

Since we're approaching the point of the recruiting cycle where you constantly hear about guys getting their offers pulled by schools at the last minute... I hope we keep him, but props to him for realizing the shoe is on the other foot in his situation.

This is a recruit that we'll have to fight for until summer. It is my understanding be doesn't graduate until May, and he's an open target until he enrolls in classes, which would be summer session at the earliest.

After losing Burton this would be a season changing blow for the O-Line/Offense. Lose Catalina and you really have to wonder how the offense does anything with the talent on the O-Line. Frankly, WITH Catalina the O-Line and offense as a whole is still a major question mark.

I understand football is important for him but does anyone know what type of post grad degree he was going after?

Is he a guard? I was thinking he was a tackle. I'd be very pleased if he won a tackle spot...

This isn't going to answer your question, but it made me think.

My guess is, he is transferring with the sole purpose of upgrading his potential NFL stock. He wants to prove to himself, and NFL scouts, that he can compete at a higher level.

This puts him in a tough position because he has to go to a school that faces elite competition, while also choosing a school that he feels confident that he will be able to start and play the entire season. Go to a top 25 school, there's a good chance you may may not start. Go to a Mac school, you're really not proving you can go against elite competition.

This is just it right here...especially with Burton now gone his odds of starting here at a P5 school at prob 95%+. He's good and we can't lose him. WTs the temptation of going to a Florida or Mizzou might be appealing but you may quickly realize starting isn't guaranteed and if u are a grad transfer u better go to a place where you know your odds are high to start.

He's a day one starter at guard. But with this staffs recruiting ability, I like the odds of keeping him. Florida could be hard to pass up though.

If you are Campbell do you promise him a starting spot if he comes here? I really know nothing about the kid, but if Florida and the SEC is sniffy around, I'm assuming he can play.
