I agree that she had to be talking wins at first. I just wanted to give the only bit of credit that I could, and that's all she gave.

Otherwise, she has to be talking about their struggles as some sort of Satan-inspired persecution. There are obviously a whole lot of theological problems with that. Speaking biblically here, we know that trials are intended as a good, though painful, character-building thing. She's missing that point in a huge way.

Of course, we don't want to neglect the Chizik context here. It's entirely possible that Auburn is losing because the Chiz just stinks at his job. She can rally the fans all she wants. It won't make him a competent head coach.

I agree. She makes Christians look silly and as if they don't want to take responsibility for their self-made problems. She's not helping herself, her family/husband, OR her faith by saying stupid crap.

And what fan is friending her on FB? Isn't that a little weird? I can't imagine stalking, say, Hoiberg's wife on FB and trying to friend her.

Have to admit that it makes me feel a little sorry for GC now that I see what he has to deal with at home.

Hopefully we can keep this from becoming an actual discussion/debate about religion - no matter WHAT religion she might be, she would be misusing it here.

She seriously thought Satan was going to give them Cam Newton and that national championship without strings attached???? She must have forgot to read the fine print in the contract...

Yeah. I don't like her deal at all. Whole lot of stupid going on there.
I don't know why she would be that involved. There's something to be said for a degree of separation there, especially in a profession like coaching where her husband is going to be criticized publicly. She should understand by now the way this sports thing works. We talk about what happened. When a team is losing, people get critical.

When a team has the Chiz, they lose. Welcome to the world, Mrs. Chizik.
I don't see why she's dragging herself into that discussion. Nothing good comes of this.

I know! Just wanted to agree with you, though - this has the potential to morph into Cave material, but ideally it shouldn't need to.

Geno has a 7.5 million buyout, as long as he doesn't listen to John L. Smith as an investment adviser, he could live well for a few years, especially in Alabama on that type of money.

I really have no idea what she is trying to imply.

I think it's an oblique over-spiritualization of the team's struggles. It can't be that her husband isn't a good coach, so she's grasping for something else. In this case, somehow Satan is sabotaging their season. I get kind of a health/wealth gospel feeling to it, like she has the idea that Christians don't struggle, fail, or have tough times.

At best, it's poorly thought on her part. It seems pretty desperate, but it can't be Gene's fault.

I thought she was calling Nick Saban "satan"...lots of people do! Satan ('Bama) "stealing wins" from Auburn...and will be for quite some time via a much better head coach!
