Thread bump Do any of you have a electric chainsaw? Any recommendations? Supposedly my dad wants one any recs would be appreciated.

This has been really handy for my dad. Especially with all of the recent wind storms. He can go for about an hour of heavy cutting before the battery dies

I thought I would weigh in on this. Just purchased an EGO 56 volt 21 inch self propelled. I was hesitant on the purchase because of price, but it had a lot of really good reviews and I believe consumer reports rated #1. Here are my thoughts so far:
Power: 4.5 out of 5. I was really surprised how well it cut through the grass. I mow my grass long (3.5 inches), so I was worried about the self propulsion. It work like a champ. Cutting seem level and the mower never bogged down. I used the side discharge option. It did not throw the clippings like my gas mower, but that is expected.
Batter life per charge: 5 stars out of 5. the unit came with 2 56 volt batteries. Reports said to expect about 30 min per charge. I assumed that the 30 min was per battery. My first use I got 45 min in the first matter and about the same on the second. I was really surprised with the charge life. I was also surprised on the quick recharge. It took about 15 min recharge a complete dead battery.
Durability: the unit is made of plastic(?) and very light. Very easy to push if you don't want to use the self propel option. I don't know how the deck will hold up compared to a metal gas power deck, but time will tell.
I mow 2-3 times a week. I go through about a gallon of gas per mowing, so I figure I am saving on average of $15.00 per week in fuel. (not sure how much the battery charge is costing). I am also using this as a test for future battery powered purchases such as car.
If you are looking for a rechargable lawnmower, i highly recommend EGO.

Looking at a new string trimmer and leaf blower. Anyone have brands they recommend? Figured once I get started in one ecosystem I need to stay there.

Do not recommend Greenworks for your trimmer! I have one and the bumper already wore out after maybe 10 uses!

Whoa. I’ve never heard of anyone mowing 2-3 times per week. Your grass can’t grow that fast. You must really enjoy doing it even if it’s not needed, right? Sorry, not giving you crap, just amazed.

Did a Milwaukee leaf blower last year and the string trimmer last month. Great units but wished I would have purchased them together for a better deal. Milwaukee is rarely discounted but Acme Tools has extra battery promotions sometimes. The trimmer replaced the last of my two cycle tools. Sticking with our gas powered mowers and snow blower for now as we have an acre.

It can, you're just not going to be cutting as much off each time. Better for the grass probably as opposed to larger cuts

Though 2-3x in a week isn't all that rare in the spring especially when you get the right combo of rain followed by warm and sunny, and when you might want to get ahead of future rainfall.

I bought a Milwaukee M18 combo with the string trimmer head and edging head that came with a leaf blower. I really like it a lot. My only complaint is I didn't buy it sooner.

Yea, I am retired so have a lot of time on my hands. Really don't mind mowing, good exercise, get to drink cold beer after. Hahaha

Since we are discussing eco friendly options. My Worx string trimmer goes through trimmer line like crazy. Clearly it is because of trimming along the neighbor's chain link fence and my garden fence. Anyone have suggestions? It appears bio degradable trimmer line isn't much a thing. I sure hate putting more micro plastics in the environment.

Epson salt, dawn dish soap and water. ECO friendly way to kill the grass under and in the chain link fence. That is what I did and now I don't trim next to the chain link. I can get close enough with the mower.

Bump. As I'm getting ready to drag my 12 year old Toro out again, looking into an upgrade for the mower.

While I'd love to get a Time master 30", I really don't want to spend $1,500+ for a mower. Plus our lot is only a quarter acre, so probably overkill anyway.

Any new electric recommendations? Sounds like the EGO is a popular choice, but seems like everywhere you look there's a different model with a different price. Any particular ones that are better or worse?

Still not opposed to something like a Honda or smaller Toro, but the idea of not having to worry about gas does seem nice.
