Those who criticize our generation forget who raised it.

No generation is perfect. Not even the Greatest Generation. However it seems that since the dawn of time, older generations have been extremely critical of younger generations, yet humanity just keeps going forward. To quote Wilco "every generation thinks it's the end of the world".

The profane one is all I've ever heard anyone sing. I guess we can't all be as classy as others.

I'm sure CAC is creaming their shorts about the first option. Wait, was that not classy enough for college students at sporting events? God forbid 18-22 year olds have some fun some time.

CAC already got the band to stop playing it at basketball games. Hilton's acoustics allow the resounding F-Bomb to be heard all too well.

Who says that humanity keeps moving forward? I think a case can be made for regression.

Sure it can, but that's if you choose to look for the negative in life. You can just as easily make a case for progress. Every generation has had wars, riots, sexual indecency, drug abuse, you name it. Yet, technology progresses, human life expectancy increases, and this ball of oxygen and water keeps spinning.

Thats really funny. CAC is also the reason we lose every game. And this whole global warming thing they started....somebody has got to stop them!

I've been going to games for about 10 years and have never even heard the 1st option. Then again, I've never gone to a game without tailgating for 6 hours first. I have have selective hearing at that point.

Anybody else remember the Delta Zeta(?) version?

"we want cold beer, we want cold beer, we want cold beer, and we want it now!"

Oh, I never once heard option 1 until opening this post.

The official lyrics (as per the band higher-ups) are 'Go' (in the middle section). Nothing else.

As it is, I hate that song, it is one of the most boring collection of notes thrown (poorly) together on a page. While we're on the subject, let's bring back Rise Sons, it beats the crap out of everything (except possibly Fights, and even that's up for debate) we're playing right now.

Oh, and the songs name is "Go Cyclones Go", in case anyone wanted to know.

Well I am not that Old, but Circa 1994, we always said "and I don't care"...perhaps that changed over the years.

I graduated in '95, and it was always option #1.

I was in school from 1992-1996 and we sang "...and I don't care"

I'm kind of surprised at this. Maybe I was sitting with the wrong people, but I didn't know the official version was "and I don't care" until way later. I always heard it the second way.

Been going to football games since 1992. Never once heard "I don't care", it's always been stupid effing song. I disagree with Phaedrus saying that it's classless, either version derides the song that's being played anyway so who cares if it gets a little vulgar. It was a proud moment for me when I attended my first game as a student and first joined in. My first year as a student was 2003 so the moments screaming "to this stupid effing song" were pretty much the high points of that year.

Rise Sons is a good one. Actually has (real) lyrics too. :biglaugh:

As to the original topic, i've heard both, but 'and i dont care' as an older version used long ago. Officially, none of it is offiicial.

Sounds like it started out as option 1 and turned into option 2. I'm a 1992 grad and it was always #1 with us... and we could swear with the best of 'em. If it is true that they don't play the song anymore due to option #2 that really sucks. That song belongs at every game!

Anyone hear a 3rd option that finished with "don't know the words to...our...school...song?"

Yet another thread in which Phaedrus is disagreed with by a bunch of people and doesn't bother to post again. This is getting to be a daily thing.
It's stupid effing and I've never heard the other version.

I was wondering - are some people posting what it 'sounds' like when they hear this, OR are the posting what they actually say when this song is played?

Either way I have 0 memories of ever hearing option 1 at any point during my years at ISU or even the days that I lived in Ames (born and raised) and attended various games.
