Would be nice if they could somehow work out a deal to make it PPV type for Dish people who want to watch the game. Fox wins by getting more money, Dish wins by keeping regular costs down.

Isn't that essentially what the sports pack is for? Maybe they can negotiate moving the channel to the sports pack only and pay for the games.

tell dish to get rid of the SEC network and their outrageous carriage fees, that would more than save the money FOX is extorting. After all, the SEC fans would still get all of the ESECPN shows. I would also email FOX just for fun.

Oh, and for the love of god someone get Lakes over here to tell us how FOX & Dish could possibly let this NC level game go unwatched.:wideeyed:

You mean to tell me that ND State's "Super Bowl" is not gonna be broadcast by Dish?.....Callin Mr Lakes....Calling Mr Lakes.......laughing out loud.....2 thee MAX........

That was Fox's plan all along. As soon as the millions of bison fans start to demand the game be shown Dish will have no option but to pay any price that Fox demands.

How would ala carte help? No we basically pay for the networks we watch and get the others for free. If we get Ala Carte they will just jack the price up on the main networks and throw in the others.

A true ala carte model should not allow bundling. If it did, I agree the situation wouldn't be much different than now.

In reality they could do away with at least 25% of the channels on cable. How many networks do they need to show Will and Grace, SVU, CSI and Spin City reruns? How many times do they need to rerun Pawn Stars and Pickers. Right now is seems every network has its one or two shows that people watch and the rest is trash or reruns over and over and over again. Seems like in inefficient system and waste of money.

It's a great marketing ploy. Providing hundreds of channels gives the impression that you are getting a huge variety of programming that is well worth the big amount of money you fork over every month. But as you say, most of those channels are just rerunning a few shows that will eventually end up on Hulu, Amazon Prime, Netflix, etc.

I have DTV and over the years there have been numerous times where they had issues like this that eventually got resolved. I wouldn't hold this against Dish.

What DirecTV channel will you be watching the Iowa State @ Texas game this season? Dish Network subscribers can tune into channel 407 in HD.

It's very possible Dish Network and Fox Sports One work things out by Saturday so there won't be a single game this season that Dish subscribers will miss. I'm not sure the same thing is the case for LHN and DirecTV.

If this issue does not get resolved, you also wont have the KSU game the following week. Also, I would MUUUUUCCCCCHHHHH rather have football content on FS1 then the LHN. FS1 will probably have, at a minimum, 4 Cyclone games this fall.

This. We won't be on ABC or FOX much if at all this year. We'll be on FS1 a lot this year. Fellow Dish subscribers better hope this crap gets resolved fast

Why would you have cable or any dish/dtv if you don't have it for sports? Everything else can be consumed in other ways for much less.

The main reason I have Dish is because I am a movie lover. Dish has more movie channels than Directv. I have over 500 movies recorded, and the dish hardware lets me save them on hard drives. Over 90% movies that I have recorded were not available on Netflix or Amazon Prime. Many of these movies were not even available to stream and were only available through DVD otherwise. So your assumption that everything else can be consumed for much less is not true.

Also, sports is a reason, but not the main reason. And I am not going to switch because I would lose access to all of my movies and that is much more important to me. Plus, Fox will resolve this dispute with Dish. It is short-term. Plus Dish has more college sports than DirecTV (once this is resolved). I don't like pro sports other than baseball, so for college sports, Dish is the best source long-term over any of the other.

And if I had to choose between movies and sports, I would choose movies. I watch movies much more than sports. So for me, Dish is a much better choice than DirecTV.

I was at the Minnesota State Fair yesterday and we wandered into the Dish trailer. One guy started pushing me to switch to Dish so I asked him about the FS1 dustup. He either knew nothing about it or lied through his teeth even after I prompted him a couple of different ways about it.

Needless to say I didn't switch.
