Hooter's wasn't put out of business by Twin Peaks or Tilted Kilts etc.... If guys over 18 want to go to an establishment to see hot chic's they go to a strip club.

Hooter's was made irrelevant by Wings joints like BWW's or places like Okoboji bar and grill offering far superior boneless chicken bites (anyone that has had Sweet Chilli boneless bites with Boji fries would never go to Hooter's).

Hooter's was done in by it's menu plain and simple.

Just to add to my previous reply. I would rather buy a package of frozen Tyson Wings eat them at home and go to Mickey's with their 6 to 1 Dude to Chic ratio; then go to Hooter's eat sub par Wings with attractive but completely unavailable women...

Stuff will fade as it reaches the end of its era, but it presents opportunities for redevelopment. That street is always packed with traffic, which means it has plenty of opportunity for business.

Exactly, plus its right off 235 and 5 minutes from downtown. Get the right stores...it'll work.

The one in Council Bluffs has closed to be taken over by corporate. Will be closed for 3 weeks while they restructure. Could be the same thing Des Moines is doing?

If it is, then they will be moving to a new location since the current building is being razed and replaced with another restaurant.

Here is a quote from the article that proves my point Twin Peaks had nothing to do with Hooter's down fall.

"An investment group led by Coby Brooks, who served as president and CEO at Hooters of America LLC from 2003 until last month, has signed a series of development agreements to open 35 new Twin Peaks restaurants over the next 10 year

Hooter's was on the downward slide well before 2003. They certainly didn't grow as a brand after 2003. Any fool that would follow Mr. Brooks into a business venture will not get my sympathy when it doesn't work out. The model isn't dead, but the menu must be spectacular for these business' to last long term. Do some research. Find the Bar Rescue episode from 2012 where John rescues a Bikini Bar in Cali. Everything has to be good (drinks and menu) and done tastefully to thrive in that market.

It isn't rocket science guys I can find a dinner and bar experience at different locations that doesn't have me second guessing and considering Twin Peaks, Tilted Kilt or Hooters. Because of that the experience needs a face lift that even Twin Peaks can't provide. When we are here in ___ years talking about how Twin Peaks is going under then what?

I have been to Twin Peaks twice and I find their food marginal and their wait staff dumber then a box of rocks. I still have nightmares about the hostess that would say "Hiiiiiiiii" to everyone that walked in the door. I'm not sure if she had a nasal issue that day or always sounded so horrid but it was disturbing.

Yep. Its a prime location that even the new owner company seems to recognize has been neglected.

Page Title

Westowne Centre is a 183,000 square foot community shopping center in an upper-demographic locality of Des Moines and anchored by Michael’s and Gordman’s, a regional
department store chain. When RPD acquired Westowne directly from the owner, the center
was suffering from 25 years of neglect. The prior owner’s failure to update the façade, or
even to change the unattractive red-and-white color scheme, had caused Office Depot to
relocate to a newer community center less than ½ mile away and the overall quality of the in-
line tenants to fall. RPD gave the center an entirely new look and is now working on leasing-
up the vacant space and upgrading the tenancy. Westowne’s prime location may spur RPD
to remain owner for several years.

I lost all interest in Hooters when they went from Miami, Las Vegas, etc and came to Des Moines and Omaha. I mean come on, do you really want to see what a Hooters girl in Sioux Falls, SD looks like?!?

I was up in Bismark, N.D. and stopped in the Hooters there. Not a pretty sight.

But I am here in Oklahoma City, and there are three Hooters here including one in the Bricktown area across from the ball park where the Redhawks play. I have checked out all three -- for the sake of accurate reporting -- and the waitresses at all three were amazingly cute. Ironically, OKC also has two Twin Peaks locations. I have not stopped at those places -- YET!
