If Fred can do what he did with Diante in one year, we will go real far. Kane is even further ahead already than what Diante was too before his senior year.

Not sure about that. Diante was pretty good his junior year. Remember when they played at 5th ranked KSU, a team that was playing for a number one seed, and a Diante led team beat them? Brackins and another starter had fouled out but Diante just kept taking it to them. They had no answer for him. I doubt Kane could pull off something like that his junior year. So in no way do I think Kane is ahead of where Diante was. However, you are right in that Fred will maximize as much as Kane's upside as possible this year. Fred is good at that.

I thought I saw on Naz twitter that he was in Ames taking summer classes. If that's the case, surely it wouldn't be him would it?

Maybe the NCAA realizes we got hosed by officials all year and decided to give us an extra scholarship for the year.

If all 4 JUCO's make it here, as Fred says, AND Bubu is still on scholarship, then it is a mystery. I hate to guess, but it makes you wonder if Naz Long will be back? My best guess is that Bubu is back on walk on status though.

Kane looks almost like another Naz Long player though IMO. A guy that can play both the 1 and 2. So if someone is indeed leaving, and it's not one of the incoming JUCO's, Naz Long makes sense I guess. I hope not. I'd like to keep everyone and have Bubu be a walk on again preferably.

If someone is going to grad school, they can get a grad assistantship- and some of them come with a tuition waiver.

Probably not as good in the NBA as Smart, no. But I could see Niang being a terrific role player in the NBA for at least 10 years. Hell, Ryan Bowen lasted that long.

I hope you're right, but I feel like Niang would be a god in Europe.

Can't bubu take 1 class if he has already graduated and still play? I remember Matt Leinart took 1 dance class or something his final season at USC since he had already graduated.

I'm pretty sure they are required to take at least 8 credits by the NCAA, and Iowa State might have higher requirements for athletes. So he could take easy classes if he wants to fill it, but I highly doubt he'll do that. He has a strong future ahead of him just not in basketball. Probably time for him to work on his masters degree, or a second major.

He looks like a Diante Garrett clone. If thats the case, I'm imagining him and Niang running the pick and role.

Anyone on here trying to predict how good of a team we will be with Kane is ridiculous without knowing who we're going to lose first. That can change everything.

I ran across Marshall's highlights of last years West Virginia game. Kane had a pretty good game, especially the first half, with a few wow plays. Should give a clear indication what he can do against B12 type completion.

Can't find much from Marshall boards, but I find this very telling:

only time will tell if he fits. with a new start he just might find his shot, since its his last shot. we know what he is capable of and like him or not he was one of Marshall's best ever.
