Wife and I watched it tonight. We both said we were glad we have HBO Max and didn't have to pay for it in theaters. No where near as good as the first one. We were both very excited and had high expectations. If you go in with tempered expectations you will probably enjoy it more. Don't get me wrong there are some good parts, but overall the story is lacking and seems forced/slow. My wife actually went to bed with about 15 minutes left, she wasnt interested enough to see how it ended.

I'll give this one a try, but I've always felt the first was way overrated. I was watching the clock wondering when it would end. Still, I liked it more than any of the other recent DC movies, but that's not a very high bar to clear IMO.
My wife and I watched just watched it and we didn’t care for it after liking WW1. Just a bunch of stuff that doesn’t make sense, like flying ability suddenly? Kristen Wiig was the best part until she weirdly turned into a cat. She was fine with the fur coat stuff.

Woof! WW84 was a bad movie. First she’s a mall cop and then we see Diana (not WW) walking around DC for 45 minutes of the film. The first film was so good and gave me hope for the DCU and this one was a big miss. Fingers crossed Zach can rebound in March with his original vision of the JL.
Agreed. It was just a bad movie and I really liked WW1. Everything about this one was cliche and a lot of it not cannon to the comics (from what little I know). The opening scene was the best part of the movie and had absolutely zero relevance to the rest. It's like it was just tacked on to give something/anything fun about it.
Wowsers. Sad to see so many poor reviews. Appreciate all the thoughts. Regardless, I'll still give her a fair shot when I see it and hope for the best. I really do want it to be good, both since I'm such a big fan of the first movie and also for the upcoming prospects of Patty Jenkins directing a 3rd installment and Rogue Squadrons movie. WW1 and Man of Steel fight over being my favorite DCEU movie.

Similar to what Disney is doing now with all their direct tie-in MCU Disney+ streaming spinoffs, it looks like WB plans to launch a bunch of similar direct movie tie-in shows on HBOMax as well. This makes me excited as what I want to see is the DCEU expanded out more and less non-related different universe things.
I would say that calling it bad is a little harsh. Definitely wasn't near as good as WW1 though. I felt sometimes that the plot was a little hard to follow and a few things didn't make sense. Maybe it is because we have had zero superhero movies in a while but I still enjoyed it.

DC just can’t get out of its own way sometimes.
Now Ray Fisher is saying that he is refusing to work on any production with DC Head of Films Walter Hamada at the head. You are exactly right in saying they simply can't get our of their own way. Just when you start to believe they have some semblance of getting their crap together at different points, the feces never fails to boil back up to the surface. At this point in time, I'd love to never hear the Geoff Johns name again for a plethora of reasons. Such a dysfunctional family.
All of it makes me sad since I grew up reading more DC comics than Marvel. I still have my fingers crossed for the Batman, even with those bad rumors
I grew up reading basically only X-Men. It might make me a dork but those comics were extremely formative for me. Most of those movies are actively terrible and it’s painful.
Finally got around to watching WW84 on Thursday night. I enjoyed it, although I don't think it was as good as the first one. I really wished I would have seen this movie in theaters. The 80s nostalgia is on-point, but watching it on my TV gave off a Stranger Things/Cobra Kai-vibe instead of a blockbuster film.
Kristen Wiig is the best part of the movie. Her character is very much a retread of Jim Carey's Edward Nigma/Riddler from Batman Forever, but I don't think that's necessarily a bad thing. It proves the point that comedic acting may actually be tougher than dramatic acting - watching Wiig "struggle" in heels at the beginning of the film and how her choreography morphs into Cheetah shows her versatility as an actress.
I'm looking forward to a 3rd WW film.

I did finally see it in theaters and walked away pretty disappointed unfortunately. I really did want to love it, but unfortunately just didn't. While there was some fun stuff that I enjoyed, most particularly in the first 2/3 of the movie (even some of the corny stuff), I just found the story to be too non-sensical, breaking their own logic and canon rules pretty much at every turn. Don't get me wrong, there is a certain level of disbelief that needs to be suspended with nearly every comic-book movie out there, but I thought Wonder-Woman 1984 went ridiculously out there pretty much in every category. Most particularly, everything surrounding the rules and effects of the wishing stone to Wonder Woman's new powers just didn't make sense. They were all super inconsistent with their own rules they were making to the point where you just lose your audience and it removes them from the movie. I attribute some of this fault to Patty Jenkins for sure, and rightfully so, but the biggest fault probably falls on the writers. I actually found myself enjoying both Cheetah and Max Lord, but simply found the writing of their characters arcs to be quite terrible at times, particularly at the end. While I was initially excited for Geoff John's involvement in both DC TV and Film when he first came in, I've found that over time, nearly everything the guy is involved in whether producing or writing (he was a writer for Wonder Woman 1984) to be increasingly terrible. I'm saying this not even factoring in the whole Ray Fisher claims of abuse debacle. At this point, I'm almost finding myself rooting for the Ray Fisher case simply as an excuse to push Johns as far away from DC as possible.

I think this is a very fair review. I think the plot was a little convoluted and confusing at times.
