Ava DuVernay (director of A Wrinkle in Time) is directing "New Gods" which will tie-in to the DCEU, presumably via the Mother Boxes and Darkseid. Sounds like the DCEU equivalent of Guardians of the Galaxy.

http://variety.com/2018/film/news/ava-duvernay-superhero-movie-new-gods-dc-1202725043/

Truthfully, I'm not sure what to think of this as I actually have already seen Ava DuVernay's latest movie she directed "A Wrinkle in Time" and it was just so-so. However, with "A Wrinkle in Time", I'm still debating in my mind whose failure it was in that movie. For those who haven't read the books (I have), the books are a REALLY hard concept to adapt to screen, so I ultimately place some of the blame simply on that and some on the director in the end. So yes, it was a really hard task she was handed, but I still think she could have done a better job at it.

Justice League is officially the lowest grossing movie for the DCEU, making $229 million at the box office (domestic).

That number would rank 14th in the MCU, behind Doctor Strange and ahead of Thor: The Dark World

Pretty pitiful. However, I still stand by my mostly still liking of Justice League, even though I recognize I'm in a pretty lonely camp there. Yes, I know how flawed the story and even entire movie is for that matter, but I still really enjoyed the chemistry of the team, which made it still a fun movie for me. I have picked up my 4K blu ray copy of it, but just haven't gotten a chance to sit down and watch it yet. I kind of got it at the same time as I bought my Thor: Ragnarok 4K copy and I worked my way through that one first. It is worth noting that Thor: Ragnarok in 4K looks pretty amazing. No joke, while I still love going to the theater, I truly believe my sound and picture quality is actually much better while watching at home now. I actually even catch myself in the theater thinking how much more awesome a certain movie will look when I buy it and watch it at home later when you would think it would be the opposite.

Doctor Strange didn't do very well? That's sad-- it's by far one of my favorite Marvel movies.

DORMAMMU! I HAVE COME TO BARGAIN!

(Edit: I had nozdormu at first. lol.)

Keep in mind that everything is all relative. Doctor Strange hauled in $677 million worldwide on a $165 million production budget (double it to include marketing costs), which not only made Disney a ton of money overall, but also probably came in HIGHER than what they were expecting. I'm sure Disney knew all along Doctor Strange was going to be a tougher sell than many of their other characters, which is part of the reason why they gave it a lower budget to work with in the first place than many of the other films.

Now Justice League on the other hand hauled in $657 million globally, but did so on a whopping $300 million dollar budget (double to include marketing costs), somewhat due to hefty reshoot costs. Therefore, not only did Justice League not really make any money, but one must also consider the opportunity cost of not making a bunch of money on the first Justice League movie ever that they missed out on. It truly is a complete embarrassment that a Justice League movie didn't crack at least $1 billion, if not even push up into Avengers territory. Talk about a lost opportunity. That lost opportunity will also affect all future box offices past it too.

Finally saw Justice League and I really enjoyed it. Far from perfect but it was a fun and enjoyable superhero flick. Anybody giving it really negative reviews either has their head too far up Marvels arse, holds Batman v Superman and Suicide Squad against JL, or overthinks these types of movies. For me it laid the groundwork and got me excited to see where they go with everything. I have really high hopes for Aquaman. Momoa is perfect for the role and James Wan knows what he's doing.

Just finished JL. Not bad and I was entertained throughout. The dialogue was really rough at times. This is a movie that will not age well. The DC superheroes have very difficult abilities to translate to the big screen and I think that will show as the years go by, even moreso than the MCU films. The new characters were all great additions. I get the love that Mamoa is getting for Aquaman, but I think Ray Fisher as Cyborg was actually the best new character. Cyborg is one of my least favorite characters in the animated DC universe, as Cyborg seems to be the cop-out if Batman is unable to hack a computer, so I surprised that his abilities actually translated better to the live-action universe than the animated movies. I gotta give Affleck a lot of credit: he could have half-assed that Batman performance like Clooney did, but he really did a great job with not a lot to work with. I think there were a lot of flaws with the writing. I cringed when the group was fawning over the return of Superman for the final battle. I get it, DC is the House that Superman Built, but Batman of all characters shouldn’t be getting bashful when Superman talks to him. This film was way better than Suicide Squad and jumps ahead of BvS in my personal rankings.

Anyone watching krypton? 2 episodes so far. Seems average, could be interesting. Gotham seems to be the better show at the start.

I think this is an underrated point. Lantern's powers just look cheesy on the big screen. Flash I think they can make look cool, but the coolest I've seen done with it was what they did with Quicksilver in the X-Men movies and that's really a gimmick.. That's about a best case scenario. Batman is great and is the best movie superhero.

Of course I might be the only person who likes Teen Titans Go. But mostly because I never saw Teen Titans.

I picked up Justice League and finally got to watch it last night. I don't understand the hate that it got. Sure it wasn't the greatest superhero movie of all time but I really enjoyed it start to finish. I get that it kind of used the same storyline of big strong baddie comes to cause the end of the world, but honestly there is only so many storylines for comic book movies. Not to mention this is a Justice League movie so idk what other storyline you would use. I think when you have individual hero movies you can be more creative with your storyline but it is a little harder to do with teamups.

Overall it was an enjoyable movie with good castings (mostly). I love Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman, Henry Cavill is a good Superman and I actually liked Affleck as Batman. Jason Momoa is a great casting for Aquaman but was a little underwhelmed by his character (not sure if it was his acting or the script or what). Cyborg was solid not really noteworthy either way.

This brings me to what I would say are the weaker parts of the movie. Did not love the Flash. Partly because I really like The Flash TV show and enjoy that Flash more. I just didn't really like how they portrayed him in the movie. He also seemed like he was supposed to be the comedic relief and I only slightly chuckled at a couple of his jokes. My other complaint is that once Superman got involved it was almost too easy. But like I said overall enjoyable and will definitely watch again.

I don't think it deserved hate, I just felt after watching it very much the same as after watching transformers. The only characters you were invested in were Batman, WW and Superman and Superman was in it about 5%. You introduce that many important characters without giving the viewers a familiarity. And to jump in with giant parademons in Gotham was the wrong tone. It felt like you were dropped into the middle of a movie throughout the whole thing. Had they took their time, did a solo batman movie maybe having a character like Barry Allen in it similar to WW's involvement in BMvSM, then create an aquaman movie giving us some insight into that world instead of just putting a huge segment of scenes where most people have no idea wtf is going on. Bottomline, they needed to create an investment into the characters so we could feel like we knew them going into the movie already. It would also make their meeting for the first time much more interesting. The blueprint was right there with Marvel and they decided it wasn't important and it showed.

I think that is a very fair criticism. Especially for people that may not have much background on the characters from other shows, comics, etc.

What I meant from my original post was that I didn't like animated Cyborg in the more-serious DC Animated films, like Justice League: War. I guess I like Cyborg more with the Teen Titans group and not Justice League. Depending on what mood DC is in, Batman can handle complex computer hacking.

I know. I just wanted to posts a Teen Titans Go Cyborg gif.
