Don't know if this has been posted before, friend e-mailed it to me. Sad news.
Cy to Leave Ames for Iowa Central

AMES, IA -- The hits just keep coming for the Iowa State athletic department.

Today, Athletic Director Jamie Pollard announced that the school's storied mascot, Cy, has informed him that he will be leaving next week to take the mascot position at Iowa Central Community College in Fort Dodge, Iowa.

"It is with a sad heart that I announce that Cy will be leaving," Pollard said during a misty-eyed press conference Monday morning. "His hard work and dedication throughout the years have been a great service to the University."

The decision wasn't easy for Cy, who was chosen as the top mascot in the nation during the Capital One Bowl Week Mascot Challenge in 2009.

"In the end, it was about finding out who I really was," Cy told reporters during a statement given outside of Jack Trice Stadium. "I mean, I really don't even know what I'm supposed to be. We're the Cyclones and I'm a bird. It doesn't make any ******* sense, does it? At least at Iowa Central, I'll get to carry a big ******* pitchfork and stuff. What do I get here? An inflatable helmet and a bunch of fog machines?"

Early rumors indicated that Cy's salary at ICCC will be upward of $450 a week, nearly four times what he had been making at Iowa State.

"They've got the facilities, they've got the best mascot prospects in the nation in Fort Dodge. Have you been to the flats? There's some talent there," he said. "This is what's best for me and my partner. We really wanted to stay in Iowa because of the gay marriage ban being uplifted, so this is a win-win."

Pollard expects a replacement search to begin immediately. Early candidates are rumored to be Troy Davis, Kenny Pratt and Jason Berryman.

This was prety funny until the last 2 paragraphs. One, the homophobe must be delusional. Making gay jokes as an iowa city correctional facilty fan is just silly. If cy were gay wouldn't Iowa City be the best place for him in Iowa, nothing wrong with that, but this homophope sounds like he's been slapped around by his girlfriend one too many times and is thinking of playing for the other team. So he hides it by making gay jokes.

As far as the berryman and Pratt comments, I'm sure they have more dignity than to allow Iowa to even talk to them, but I would think that the hawkeyes would be eyeing them for their mascot long before we would. Problem is that we're ashamed of the actions of these two atletes, but they are 2 noteworthy arrests in like 7 years/vs 50 or so for the schmucks. Clear hackeye homer here that hopes picking on 2 guys with a problem will defelect the fact that they are one of the most troubled criminal corrections facilities, oops I mean universities in the country.

It came from a hawkeye website, I came across it by accident a few days ago. It was making fun of us losing players in basketball, which the stupid thing about it is that it was published after the hawks lost their entire team.

Yep, that is the kind of thing that squawk fan emails amongst themselves for laughs. Pretty freaking lame if you ask me.

It's a sad day for hawk fans when that is the best material they can come up with.

A guy I know close to the situation said that Cy wanted a new practice facility and the Athletic department said they would not be able to do that until the end zone work was done or he won 5 online mascot contests.
