I don't know if this has been mentioned, and I'm not reading through all the posts, but Dairy Queen has cheese balls if thats a qualifier for best fast food. I'm also not claiming DQ is anywhere near the best, just mentioning they have cheese balls
The Dairy Queen in Nevada has the world's worst cheeseballs. Starbucks in Nevada on the other hand....absolutely incredible cheeseballs.

Culvers is the worst burger I have eaten. I loved 5 guys the first time I ate there in DC before they became more nationwide. In-n-Out was nothing special.

As for favorite restaurant, it is Freebirds World Burrito hands down followed by Chipotle.

Burger – 5 Guys
Mexican – Freebirds
Chicken Sandwich – Chick-Fil-A
Sub – Quizno’s
Steak Sandwich – Pepper Jax
Hot Dog – Sonic
Fish – Long John Silvers
French Fries – 5 Guys
Pizza – Papa John’s

I actually eat at Chipotle’s more than any other fast food restaurant because we don’t have a Freebirds in St. Joe. (I don't use the drive through definition. To me it is whether you sit down and a waiter comes to take your order or you order and pay for it right there.)

However, the store brand can sometimes actually be the same stuff farmed out to the 'name brand' manufacturer to make. If the form of the packaging is almost identical aside from printed labels, it might just be made by them.

Virtually all store brands are made by one of the big packaged food companies. Either it is the same company that makes the national brand leader, or it is one of their competitors emulating the national brand leader. If it is the same company that makes the national brand, it is likely the same formula or a slightly less expensive version (i.e. using HFCS instead of sugar, less expensive cuts of beef, etc.) to keep profit margins at an acceptable level.

In the interest of full disclosure, I happen to work for one of the big packaged food companies as a project manager on the store brands side of the business.

B-Bops and Chick Fil A are tops for me. Steak and Shake honorable mention.

Not quite fast food, but I love me some Pepperjax

Any list with Chipotle on it is automatically disqualified. Panchero's is miles ahead; same with Qdoba and Fighting/Flying Burrito. Chipotle is the most overrated food in the world.

The word drive-through doesn't imply any particular level of speediness. You just have to be able to stay in your car from ordering to food acquisition and there should probably be a window of some type. I'd argue that ordering via telephone like at Applebees doesn't count, but I could be swayed.

Then Jethro's it is. I get drive through Jethro's quite often and it is on average quicker than Culver's.

Just say no to sliders.

I can't confirm that it is still true, but back in the 70's the Heinz plant in Muscatine made Heinz ketchup and HyVee ketchup on the same line - only difference was the label. Have you ever wondered why the bottles are EXACTLY the same?

Same with Home Town Milk and HyVee milk. They both came from the same truck in Iowa City and the milk was identical.

Sidetrack, but I guarantee there is no milk coming on a truck from Iowa City these days....just counting down until they bulldoze that plant along with that busted-arse Hy-Vee and build me a brand new Hy-Vee.

The Dairy Queen in Nevada has the world's worst cheeseballs. Starbucks in Nevada on the other hand....absolutely incredible cheeseballs.

Maybe on a consistent basis, and maybe in a drive thru setting but sweet mother of god, I ordered cheese balls at a local place....I think they threw them in before the fryer was hot...the inside was melted, but the outside was not fried to the proper hardened shell, so I got a basket full of melty cheese chunks stuck together covered in greasy bread crumbs (I know, it kind of sounds good, but it's not). Of course, the same location has been at least 34 different restaurants in the past 5 years, so what should I expect, eh?

I agree with you on Chipotle, but Freebirds is actually pretty good. I like how you can choose the size of your burrito.

Can't comment on Freebirds (never been there) but I'm 99.999% certain that it is also far superior to Chipotle

I'm not going to waste my time reading through all these posts. I'm just going to assume that everyone corrected the OP and replied with Taco Bell.

Pancheros is horrible. I ate there twice. The second time was at a different one to see if it was just the specific restaurant. It was just as bad. It is not even close to Chipotle.

If I was to expand it even farther out. It would be Chipotle, Moe's, Mr. Burrito, Freebirds, Fighting Burrito and then Pancheros.

Men, I'll settle this once and for all:

Tortilla - Hands down Pancheros
Meat (I get steak) - Chipotle
Toppings:
Queso - Pancheros
Cheese - Tie
Guac - Chipotle
Salsa - Pancheros probably has the upper hand here.

I miss Pancheros, but Chipotle is a very similar product to me. And the meat is a lot better.

Those mentioning Fighting Burrito and Qdoba can get out of here. Especially Qdoba, there is a reason it was the only fast casual Mexican place not to survive in Ames.
