Chipotle used to taste better to me. I have yet to have very flavorful food from the one in Ames (three visits). At this point, it's not much better than Pancheros (the ultimate in bad "Mexican"). Pancheros is for people who are drunk, don't know any better, or possibly both.

Chipotle's carnitas with their salsa verde is pretty darn good. I wish one of these burrito joints would offer Queso Fresco as an option instead of shredded cheese. It would be so much better.

Out-of-staters have this weird draw to Chipotle like it's the mecca of all things Mexican... it's so strange and it's seemingly across the board. Like they've brainwashed everyone else but haven't gotten to the Iowans yet.

And you are really adamant that a burrito restaurant started in iowa city as a place for drunk college kids to eat after the bars close is some kind of 4 star, authentic mexican cuisine...? Meat, cheese and sauce in a flour tortilla. That's all it is, no matter where you go.

Get the Quesarrito at Chipotle. They will refuse to make it for you between 11-1:30pm and 5pm-8pm but it is amazing. It is one of their "secret menu" items. But you have to tell them how to make it because it isn't a wildly popular secret menu like In-N-Out.

Basically they make a full size cheese quesadilla and then use the quesadilla as the shell for your burrito. So the outside of your burrito is this magnificent melted cheese concoction with the beautiful insides of a Chipotle burrito.

Also my go-to order is: Double Wrap burrito, quad rice, both beans, fajitas, double barbecoa, pico, hot salsa, corn, lots of cheese, lettuce.

This might get printed and put on the fridge for my girlfriend to read. I ******* last week about her getting store brand ketchup (that's absolutely awful might I add) and her response was, "It's ketchup. It's all the same crap." ***** please.

Cookies & Countryside >>>> all

Ranch sucks. Period.

Anyone who puts ketchup on a good cut of meat should be hung, drawn, and quartered (looking at you neighbor who puts ketchup on steak and pork chops).

Cookies is not good sauce

Ate at Culvers once with my wife. We both said the same thing, "Meh".

Would prefer a roast beef sandwich from Arby's, or better yet, two tacos and a small potato olé from Taco John's on Taco Tuesdays.

Everybody hypes Chipotle so when it came to Ames I gave it a couple honest tries. Maybe it was too much hype, but I wasn't impressed and still prefer Pancheros. I will admit Chipotle has more flavorful meat but that was the only good thing about it. No queso, crappy tortilla, costs more, smaller burrito. Pacheros all day for me.

I laugh at your smaller burrito... My old Chipotle used to weigh mine after they made it. Averaged around 4 pounds.

Also... **** that Bob thing. I hate my burrito **** getting mixed up. I love being able to take just a bite of rice. Or go back and forth with the warmness of the rice/meat and the coldness of the cheese/salsa/lettuce. When it is all mixed up, the meat/rice is cold and the cheese/salsa/lettuce is warm.

Men, I'll settle this once and for all:

Tortilla - Hands down Pancheros
Meat (I get steak) - Chipotle
Toppings:
Queso - Pancheros
Cheese - Tie
Guac - Chipotle
Salsa - Pancheros probably has the upper hand here.

I miss Pancheros, but Chipotle is a very similar product to me. And the meat is a lot better.

Those mentioning Fighting Burrito and Qdoba can get out of here. Especially Qdoba, there is a reason it was the only fast casual Mexican place not to survive in Ames.

The meat is the main reason why I think Pancheros is horrible. Chipotle's meat is much better. Freebirds meat is even better than that. I get the burrito bowls so I have not had the tortilla. And I don't get much Cheese on mine. I do agree that the Salsa is better at Pancheros, but did not make up for how bad the meat was. I have only had Qdoba a couple of times and it was good. I have not had the others.

This is awesome. I have heard about the Qaesarrito on the web, but never seen anyone actually claim to have successfully ordered it. It looks like I need to make an off-hours trip to my locale Chipotle to throw down with this bad boy.

I bet it cost like $15 too. A normal burrito at Chipotle is smaller and costs more.

I forgot about the bob..thats another reason why I prefer Pancheros. Get to taste all of the deliciousness in every bite combined together. Your not taking a bit of rice, a bite of beans, a bit of sour cream, then a bite of meat.

Yep, the Bob is excellent. Chipotle too lazy to do it.
