So my wife dropped her iPhone 6 the other day and cracked the screen. It's not too bad- the crack is across the top, so not in the main field. I did a quick internet search and see quotes ranging for $120-$140 for screen replacement.

Anybody had any experience on cracked smartphone screen replacement?

yes, that's a typical price. If you're handy, you can buy the screen replacement on eBay and try it yourself but (from experience) it's not as easy as you want it to be.

I've used a great place at 100th and Hickman before. Think he charged me $109?

what iPhone?

I have a 5s that could be used for parts, not sure what will work, as it had water damage. But it isn't hard to do to it yourself.

Pretend it is your car's windshield. Does it need fixing?

Funny, I have had a crack in my windshield for 2 years that doesn't bother me so I've never gotten around to fixing it... Plus, it's my wife's phone so it doesn't really bother ME.

My biggest fear is that I would buy the parts and get it all taken apart and then get stuck or screw up the whole phone somehow.

The parts are impossibly small. There are good YouTube videos out there that can get you the confidence to get it opened up. But, for me, the chance of a DOA iPhone isn't worth saving $50 :)

Get a screen protector and slap it on to keep it together and protect your wife's fingers from any sharp edge developing.

If you decide to fix it get her one of these:

Last time I was in Jordan Creek mall they had a little stand that would do it. Not sure the price.

I had a 5s fixed last week for $70. I think an apple store will do it too for maybe $130, I think its listed on their site.
