You must be a girl, a mormon, or a god!

1. Hickory Park -> Great food, great prices for the amount of food, BBQ joint
2. Great Plains -> Ridiculously thick pizza. Pizza crusts with honey = heavenly
3. West Cyde Wings -> Can you have bad wings?
4. Olde Main -> Sunday brunch = :notworthy:
5. Legends in Legacy Tower isn't the greatest restaurant, but it has by far the best view in Ames.

I'm sure I'm missing a bunch.

If you get a chance, I'd strongly consider strolling our campus. One of the most beautiful in the country.
You must be a girl, a mormon, or a god!

Do the Mormons have a female god by chance?

Olde Main Brewing Co. 316 Main St. www.oldemainbrewing.com
Great place to eat and have a beer. The food is good but a little pricey but the atmosphere is nice and the beer is good.

Dublin Bay Irish Pub & Grill. 320 S 16th St.
Nice selection of beer and tasty Irish fare. Its near the Stadium too. I haven't been there on game day but it might be pretty busy then.

Fuji Japanese Steak House 1614 S. Kellogg Ave #101.
Sushi and Hibachi. I've had the sushi which is good but I haven't tried their Hibachi menu.

Pizza Pit. 207 Welch Ave. www.pizzapit.com
Might be the best pizza in town. They don't serve alcohol but you can go down stairs to Welch Ave Station which is a pool bar and you can order off the Pizza Pit Menu down there. The drinks are pretty cheap too but it is in the heart of Cyclone Country since you're near the campus.

Legends in the Legacy Tower, 119 Stanton Ave.
As mentioned above the place is decent but the view is worth the trip.

Applebees is a chain, isn't it? Can find one almost anywhere. I'd stick with Hickory Park. From the latest weather reports, it's going to be a beautiful football Saturday in Ames. Enjoy yourselves!

Hickory Park - I've had smoked meat all over the country and they are my favorite.

Good idea on bringing a spare girlfriend. You just never know.

Seriously though, have fun in Ames this weekend. The weather is supposed to be phenomenal (unfortunately for us, I think). The tailgating should be perfect. A 2:30 kick is the best time.

-Es Tas in Campustown is both a good bar, and a good place to get a bite to eat. My favorite tacos on the planet.

-As far as bars, what are you gals looking for? Here are some popular bars and their vibes
1) Chasers: cheap beer at most hours. Ok music (mix of modern rock/90s rock/and rap).

2) Mickey's: typical "Irish" pub. Usually a pretty good time

3) Paddy's: see above.

4) Capone's: more focused on live music, usually a pretty good party atmosphere.

5) Headliner's: haven't made it there much since it reopened, but it used to be home to People's and Lumpy's, two of the greatest bars Ames has ever seen.

6) Outlaw's: dust off your cowboy boots. This is the "country" bar. Lot's of dancing.

7) Element: Skeezy dance club. All rap. You practically get an STD walking through the door.

8) Sgt. Pepper's: a good straight up drinking bar that places great tunes (all classic rock). Throw peanut shells on the floor all night and get pretty lit up.

These aren't all the bars, but it gives you a good starting point. All of these bars are located in the Campustown area. Also, as far as food goes, I'd recommend all the places that have been listed (except Applebees) and add the West St. Deli (great deli sandwhiches) Fighting Burrito (like Chipotle but better) Jeff's Pizza (beyond delicious and slices are available at most times), La Fuente (well done, but pretty standard Mexican) and Battle's BBQ (apparently it's back in business?).

Where are you staying? Odds are you'll be able to take the Cy-Ride Moonlight Shuttle (aka the Drunk Bus) home from the bars. Enjoy Ames!

Hickory Park isn't really barbecue in the traditional sense. It is smoked meat with barbecue sauce available at the table, and it is awesome. Great Plains is also good as mentioned, just don't try to eat more than two pieces. Dublin Bay is different than any other resteraunt I've ever been to and it also really good. These are the top three places I try to get to whenever I'm back in Ames.
