I know PSU used to do Sweet Caroline at their games... and it was the same deal. Fans hated it, students loved it.

Name me a quality program that named their stadium after an African-American athlete. I'm rather proud of that, too.
While the wave did look pretty cool after a while, what I wasnt happy about was that when it was finally getting going and drawing lots of crowd noise, we had the ball in a 3rd down situation. Once we then punted, the noise was good for defense but I didn't like that it go noisy on the "wrong" 3rd down
Yeah.. but we were controlling the game and the crowd was really getting into it. I can bet you that most players didn't mind the enthusiasm. As far as noise when we are on offense... I don't think the wave created that much more noise that most other situations when we're on offense on an important 3rd down. We should be quiet then, but you still end up having a ton of people clapping and yelling "Go State!" or something when we should be as quiet as possible. The timing wasn't good for it, but nothing to be too worried about.
HOWEVER, to open another can of worms... the student-led "Go Cyclones!" first down chant is something that I think distracts Arnaud and company when we are in hurry-up mode (and we are most of the time). I remember Arnaud waving to quiet down the crowd after a first down at least once last night. I love that we as students are getting into it, but we either need to hurry it up or shorten the cheer.
Or lose the first down "cheer" all together. Sorry I am just not a fan of cheering for first downs. Its a friggin first down, act like you been there before.
Yeah because we are the only school that has a cheer for first downs and all... :skeptical:
1. If they cant handle that little bit of noise, good luck at Nebraska
2. How dare the students be silly and immature. It's much better if we sit on our hands like most of the stadium does

I understand the Red Sox also use it? Not football, but I guess you'd have to consider them "quality".
