Unreal statement. So the kid decides because of the uniform and they change the uniform the next year? Really?

I said if a kid was undecided between two schools but liked the uni's of one and not the other, why wouldn't the cool uni break the tie? If you don't think players get excited about cool new uni's you need to re-watch the video of the ISU players reaction to the unveiling of the Jack Trice throwbacks.

Did they win that game?
Zero correlation between uniforms and performance

If we started separate polls for the under 30 wanting alternate uniforms and over 30 wanting alternate uniforms, they would be polar opposites, but quite frankly we don't care what the over 30 thinks, they're too old for collegiate athletics.

I also bet that if we researched the under 30 college athletes and over 30 college athletes, the results would be polar opposites.

We're kind of like your parents - we're the ones paying. But cheer up kid, someday your contributions might matter.

Why not take out the facade and grandness of the SEZ expansion and just pancake in some cheap risers. After all, that money could be allocated elsewhere towards facilities and equipment that actually improve performance. Why is it so wrong to want to modernize our image?

I'm over 30. Maybe I should stop buying season tickets and buying Cyclones gear and get rid of my Cyclone license plates. My old people money is no good.

I bought a game-worn JT throwback because I think they're awesome. I want more uni combos too.

I am way over 30 but if you under 30's don't care what we think we can give our money to a group that does care.

So you are both saying you'd stop giving money to ISU football if they decided to wear alternate uniforms all the time? Is that what I'm understanding?

Tradition and recognition are fine when you are the Alabamas, Penn States, and Notre Dames of the college football world. I think Rhoads needs to come to terms with the obstacles that are there for ISU and be willing to pull out all of the tricks in the book to get recruits here and for the average viewer to stop for a moment to watch an ISU game.

Because when I am flipping through games and I come across a Duke vs Wake Forest game, I am probably going to keep flipping. If one of them has a unique uniform though, I may pause for a bit to watch the game to see it better. And that team is also going to stick in my mind.

While I respect his stance, ISU doesn't have the luxury of having that stance.

This, exactly. I get that this may be CPR's personally preference, but he has to see the forest through the trees here a bit. I can't imagine any school has alternate jerseys or any of the other fads because it's the coach's preference. I can't imagine there is a coach in the nation that even pays attention to what jersey his team is wearing. The reason other schools do it is because it appeals to the players and prospective players and it helps generate interest in the school.

If there are other legitimate reasons to not use alternate jerseys, or whatever other fad is out there, great, but not doing it because CPR doesn't like it seems like a terrible reason.

I guess I don't get why we care about tradition when we've traditionally been kind of mediocre to below mediocre. Not sure it would hurt to be rebranded.

"Son, when you put on that cardinal and gold and wear that I State logo, you're a part of a hundred years of tradition, except there was the point in time we had the swirly bird, and walking cy, and really the cardinal is kind of a new thing, it used to be much more ketchup-y, and we used to throw in some purple too, but that was kind of weird."

Look at it this way. The players under Paul that have made it to the NFL and made impacts as cyclones all have some similar traits. They were all not top caliber recruits, they all had a chip on their shoulder, they all were hard workers, they were all tough and mean.

That is what paul is trying to get his teams to buy into. He does not care how flashy or how much money your team has he is going to send his guys out there and try and stick it to ya. Underdog role.

Changing uniforms getting fancy pants glitter helmets. That contradicts the message these guys get 24/7 from the coaching staff. If you are worried about what you are wearing you aren't worrying as much about football. See it from the Paul angle not that hes a non techie bumpkin but about the message he is trying to preach to this guys.
