And what is the difference here? Success. Just stick with something and win games and before long it goes from "old fashioned", "boring" and "plain" to "classic."
By the way, I agree, that stick figure kNU "N" is one of the worst.
Our current one is great! The best we've had so far. And to whomever said that I-State could be any of 3 different teams, that's not true. The "A" in STATE is situated so that IA is formed, thus creating the two-letter code for the state of Iowa. Sure the "A" would be centered for IDAHO, but that'd be stupid since they're ID, right?
But there are a lot of uglier helmets than ours. Maryland, Northwestern, Iowa's Turd-bird, Kansas State, the OSU logo is just odd, Colorado, Vanderbilt, Air Force, Boise State, Washington State, Cincinnati, etc. That was really a pretty weak attempt at picking a list of 10 by that writer.
Two more just occured to me... the Beavers, and then Missouri's latest entry in the arena league.

Wow. Extreme difference in taste I guess. I really like most of the helmets you just mentioned. What helmets does everyone else like? I like helmets that are classic, but do something BESIDES just putting a letter or two on. Here are some of my fav's:

The '75-'78 logo always seemed a little redundant to me. "ISU" inside of an "I".
But hey, at least we win when we rock the throwbacks.
IMO...Current design is ok, but would look better on white or canary gold w/cardinal stripe from front to back.
Agree. The I-State logo itself is fine. But I have to admit it is a minor fail to have a cardinal logo on a cardinal helmet.
I love our I-state logo. The first year I didn't like it - but it is really turning into our brand the longer we keep it.
Yes, please keep it. I much prefer the I-State be our brand over a cardinal. Our color is cardinal, but a bird should not be our logo. Just not a fan of it. It seems like the big time teams have their letters on the helmets, for the most part, rather than emblems.
Totally agree. LA techs helmets are retro and cool. Never liked Washington state's helmet. I always thought their cougar looked like a fish.

Washington State's WSU Cougar logo looks like some high-school cheerleader got into the Sharpies and posterboard before a homecoming parade.

I agree with the old twister or the old throwback vs iowa votes. Maybe instead of the white helmet rumors to fix the cardinal on cardinal complaints....our new logo that most are warming to should be tried on yellow as a compromise. I think to do white would make it look like a high school helmet.

Yah, this is nuts. There are literally dozens of helmets worse than ours. I could see making fun of our unis in the past, but our unis are pretty middle of the road--not too flashy and not very boring. How about these crappy helmets for starters: Auburn, Vanderbelt, South Carolina, BYU, Ohio St., Syracuse, Tennessee, Notre Dame, Nebraska! What exactly is the criteria here?
