Not sure what we should have expected. I think Dane got a tough draw that put him on the back side right away.

Yeah I think Colbray should have done better.

Not a lot of expectation out of 125, 165(nobody entered), 174.

Three guys still alive in the R12. All with winnable matches.

141: Storr vs UR Limmex (Purdue)
149: Degan vs UR Sprague (American)
HWT: Harrington vs UR Streck (Purdue)

Overall, I think the team is wrestling to about what was expected for this tournament. Like buf stated above, this team has 3 major holes that won't win match, then a couple of others weights that are average. Parker's performance disappointing. I like watching him wrestle, has shown some great moments (the win over Desanto looks really good at this point), but just continues to have some bad matches thrown in there. Maybe give Simmons a go? Pestano out a little quicker than I had hoped, but I didn't think Colbray would make much of a run at this tournament based off prior performances. Harrington getting some good wins and is showing some huge improvement from last year. Getting used to wrestling heavyweight and getting more comfortable up there. Storr is tough but that bar and half that Meredith put on him was tight. Degen may not be the most fundamentally sound at all times, but the dude can battle and its good to see in this lineup.

Parker is the only real disappointment for me. I agree, let's see what Simmons has. Disappointing that ISU isn't going to the Midlands so these 2 could both wrestle there.

I guess Storr would also be a slight disappointment. Not that I expected him to beat Meredith (although it wouldn't have shocked me if he did), but he just was manhandled. Got to the legs, but Meredith wanted him there and put him in danger both times, then easily ran a bar/half and stuck him. Meredith is very good and has been wrestling well. After Heil, he's in that group of about 4-5 other guys that could be in the finals (Jack, McKenna, Eierman, Yianni). The weight is so deep, Storr needs to be able to compete with guys at that level if he wants to AA.

Harrington has done well.
Pestano had a tough draw, but he is what we knew he is. A very solid competitor. Probably a national qualifier, might win a match, but that's the ceiling.
I'm out on Colbray. Meeks V.2. Need a new 97.

Degen is right where he's supposed to be. He is a lot like St. John, so hopefully he can learn from him.

125: Allison wrestled competitively, which is about all you can hope for. He's got a pretty decent ride but that's the only thing in his arsenal.
133: Parker is just inconsistent. Though it is worth noting the guy who knocked him out is still alive. If he ends up placing then that loss looks different in retrospect.
141: Storr has been good so far, we'll see what today brings. Given what the bracket looks like anything below 6th would be disappointing.
149: Agree that Degen is sloppy. He trusts his length to let him get away with a lot of things and it doesn't always work for him. But he's a freshman so there's time to fix that. If he can pick up a win to place it'll be a good tournament for him (if he wins in the R12 he'll have #8 ranked Hayes of Ohio State in the next round so I expect he'd get sent to the 7th place match)
157: Straw picked up a nice win over Staudemeyer, but also ate a bad pin.
174: Waiting for Coleman
184: Dane wasn't able to overcome a tough draw. It's worth noting that the guy who knocked him out is still alive and also beat #15 Gabel of Northern Colorado yesterday.
197: Draw was tougher than it seemed (Holschlag is still alive and Cervantes picked up several more wins after beating Colbray) but not that tough. His mat wrestling needs to get a lot better.
HWT: Turned around an earlier loss to Isley and took out a guy who went 2-2 at NCAAs last year. If he gets a win in the R12 he'll get #18 Hutchison, which would be a nice test for him. There's no reason he can't take 6th place.
