That seems like a strange theory, not to say it isn't right. Generally doesn't it happen where the guy will kill everybody one after another and them himself right afterwards? I'm not expert on these things but that seems really strange that a guy would kill his wife, with their kid home, then kill the kid a day later while he leaves the body in the front room. Then he waits another day to kill himself? That just doesn't add up in my book.

That's exactly what I was thinking. Nothing adds up in this story. But I guess if you're willing to kill your wife and kid, logic goes out the door. Just a sad situation any way you look at it.

This is a terrible tradgedy, but I wonder if this, Rod Beck's death, and Ken Caminitti's death are just gonna be the tip if the iceburg when it comes to showing steroids effects on professional sports... I know there is a proven link to steroids and depression and manic-depressive behaviors... Hopefully the leagues can get it under control and the unions step in to get the players the necessary therapy to deal with these issues when their careers start to fade away... I had a chance to meet Chris on a couple of different occasionsand he seemed like a pretty nice guy, hopefully his other kids are doing ok...

Exactly right about the steriods. There have been a lot of professional wrestlers die before the age of 50. My guess is that many are drug and steriod related. And not only do steriods mess with your body...they mess with your head as well.

I don't know if Benoit was using steriods but its widely known that many professional wrestlers do.

That said, what a terrible situation. I remember watching Benoit growing up.

Sounds like the details are going to be very weird.
Fayette County District Attorney Scott Ballard told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, "The details, when they come out, are going to prove a little bizarre."

ESPN.com updated their story. They're saying he strangled his wife, smothered his son, and hung himself.

If it turns out he did it. Hes a bastard. Anyone who kills innocent people and then kills themselves sucks. if you arent happy seek help or take yourself out. Dont take others. Nothing pisses me off more than a child killer. If it was a murder by an outside source, its a tragedy and I hope they find the guy.

Exactly...especially a 7 year old boy who was likely caught in the middle of everything.

He got the order wrong, as do most murderers, he was supposed to hang himself FIRST and THEN go after the others.

This all could have been avoided had he just killed himself first...

Seriously, whatever it was that was bothering him.why take it out on other people. The whole thing is senseless and tragic.

There's quite a bit of contradicting reports out there. While some have indicated his wife was Saturday, his son Sunday, and himself Monday, another said that his wife killed Daniel and then he snapped and strangled her. That would be consistent with the "family emergency" if she called him and said that their son was dead. I don't like to think that he would say he couldn't attend a PPV in which he was scheduled to win a championship so he could go kill his family.

I'm trying to withhold judgment until all the facts are out. This just seems too weird. If this was all premeditated, or even if it wasn't, it seems like there has to be some kind of mental disorder, a breakdown, roid rage, or something. Hopefully there was a note left to explain his motive.

The story about the wife snapping and killing the boy seems a bit more likely to me. No matter how it turned out it's still really bizzare.

How is that more likely? The 'roid based depression seems about likely as anything so far.

- Women commit FAR less violent crime than men
- People on steroids tend to die earlier, battle more deppression, and have fits of rage more often than the general population
- Many wrestlers have or do use steriods

I'm thinking the fact that he was a well-liked wrestler is clouding some judgement. It is MUCH MORE likely Chris committed both the murders.

He may have done both. Its just weird that he did them a day apart. Of course that is if the coroner knows his stuff and the media isnt being stupid.

Well here it is...

Pro wrestler Chris Benoit strangled his wife and smothered his son before hanging himself in his weight room, a law enforcement official close to the investigation told The Associated Press Tuesday.

The list of pro wrestlers who have died young in recent years (O. Hart, Rude, Pillman, Hennig, Eddie G.) is just mind boggling.

I'm not normally one for government or governing bodies to step in, but this is just friggin' ridiculous. Obviously, Owen Hart's was an accident, but all these people dead before the age of 45? It makes me wonder if McMahon pressures people into taking steroids. Perhaps it's just that people in this particular industry tend to take other drugs as well, but good grief, they're dropping like flies.:sad9cd:

I still find it hard to find alot of sympathy on a choice that they know can kill them. This all still boils down to two people, a wife and child dying for nothing. You can keep building your body up for this crap, but in the end the only who truly cares is you. Its not worth it.

Well here it is...

If this is due to "roid rage" I hope they go after the company that sold him the drugs and the company that manufactures it.
Don't get me wrong, again, if true, Benoit is at fault first, but these people know what they are selling and know what it can do, they deserve a (small) share of the responsibility.

According to CNN.com...
Pro wrestler Chris Benoit killed his wife, Nancy, and asphyxiated his son, Daniel, before hanging himself in the weight room of the family's suburban Atlanta home, law enforcement said Tuesday. Authorities also said they found a number of drugs -- all believed to be legal -- including steroids.

I highly doubt McMahon pressures them into it. The main story in this country with steroids is obviously regarding baseball. A lot of people have said that steroids are used in baseball to help the body recover faster playing almost everyday and throughout a long 162 game season.

Professional wrestlers' bodies take more punishment than baseball players' and there is no offseason to rest. They're on the road doing live events over 200 days of the year. I think steroids in wrestling might just be a way for them to get by.
