With it being a night game anyone have a list of bars they like to hit before heading to the game??? I80 to I35 for us. Can venture off the main path.

Taking 235 from I80 to I35 will give you more options in Des Moines.

Valley Junction Area: Bix & Co, Sullys, Either/or.

Downtown: Big Grove, Lua, Carl’s Place, high life/El bait, 300 Rooftop.

East Village: 85 Bar, Locust Tap, up down, beechwood, Lamp, Ernie’s Boondock, Coa

Leaning more towards smaller town bars, but those are good suggestions.

If you want to cut up north at the Waukee exit you could do the Old Waukee > Granger > Madrid > Slater > Kelley route you could hit a bar in each town.

R Place Fenceline or Flight. Get off at the Huxley exit and you could technically do them all if you wanted.
If only want one convenient stop I’d say flight then come up 69. I don’t recall if there is still a detour on 69 or not but it isn’t that bad.

R's Place looks like a good spot
Good choice, you won’t regret it. Really decent Midwest style pizza and a lively atmosphere. Iowa state students have discovered this place and it gets packed on a Fri/Sat night. I think it’s a lot of the small town kids that like that small town bar feel over Welch bars.

Flight for sure!! Was there a couple of weeks ago. Great food, beverages and quite a few TVs.

Is that the place right off South Dakota about 5 miles south of 30?

Always thought it looked fun, but there's no way I would have even considered partying somewhere that required driving back in college.

Yes
