But the Iowa river is flooding up here. They run very close to each other. In fact, tributaries of the cedar run within a mile of the Iowa river, so how can they be different watersheds.

I stood on the Continental Divide while it was snowing. The water in the flakes falling by my right hand was going to end up in the Atlantic while the water in the flakes falling by my left hand was destined for the Pacific. It is kind of mind blowing.Because that's not how watersheds work? At some point there's a dividing line and water goes one way or the other. That some tributaries are close to the line doesn't matter.
