I personally don't like the idea of playing a really good MAC team like Northern Illinois.
I dont like playing good non-BCS schools in general. (utah is an exception because of their reputation)
Its the same reason Iowa fans give for "hating" the ISU/Iowa game.
If they win they are supposed to win, but if they lose.....:wideeyed:
Same applies with N Illinois. Lets not play the favorite in the MAC. The risk-reward ratio isnt worth it.

There are no "gimme's" this year.

However, this coaching staff will set themselves apart if they can steal a few of these to get 6 wins.

Agreed. This ISU team gained a TON of confidence last season and quite frankly you just didn't see this coaching staff making the same boneheaded mistakes that Chizik and his merry crew of accomplices did. I don't think going 6-6 is out of the question at all with this team. I think Knott and Klein are going to surprise a lot of people. ISU is going to beat somebody this year and nobody is going to see it coming. Nebraska, OU, Texas, and Iowa.... I am looking at you....

The way the schedule is if we can't beat a good MAC team then we might as well take our ball and go home.

It isnt about not being able to beat them. Its about risk-reward. N Illinois is going to be able to knock off a good number of BCS schools on a given day. I agree with C-Willy's take on this. Schedule a cupcake in this spot.
