I dont understand the hate for WVU. Like ISu, WVU isnt a blue blood. It doesnt get highly rated recruiting classes, and makes do with mostly 3 star kids.

DH was upset after a loss, bc this is HIS year. the stars all aligned for WVU, and it has DH's best players since Geno Smith and tavon Austin put up 70 on Clemson in the orange bowl(and those wernt his recruits).

DH is extremely likeable. He doesnt care what he looks like, gets drunk with and fishes with Huggybear, and isnt a pretentious guy.

Yes, he was emotional after WVU's 1st loss. Who wouldnt be?

Anyway, you cant knock us out of the big 12 title race bc we control our own destiny. Only TCU, Pokes, or OU can derail us. Every Big 12 team has a loss. Some have more than 1.

Like I said, ive watched ISU play TCU, WVU, Tech, Oklahoma State. Enough to know you are good. maybe have the country's best wr. maybe have big 12's best defense. maybe have big 12's best coach. maybe have big 12's best rb. And although your qb isnt murray or grier, but he's in the conversation after that(grier and murray being 1st round NFL draft picks).

I think(personally) ISu will win out. I also like WVU's chances to win out. We have OU in morgantown. it may be snowing by then. Have to like WVU in the snow.

It has to do with how WVU players and coaches conduct themselves. They are terrible. The players constantly taunt the other team's fans. The coach never gives credit to the other team and is a sore loser. The culture of the WVU football program is seriously messed up. I'd be embarrassed if I were a WVU fan.

Let's not forget...OU still has to play OSU.

That's a game that's ALWAYS up for grabs...regardless or record or rank.

As one OSU poster once said...Oklahoma State FB only exists or one reason...to destroy OU fan's dreams. : )

And WVU still has to play at OSU as well. OSU isn't having a great year...but they're capable of giving anyone a run for their money IMHO.

How do you think Mike Gundy felt after literally watching his team's National Championship hopes vaporize in front of his eyes in 2011? Or Gary Patterson after our win over TCU (in about the same week of the season as our WVU win this year) last year? Fans rushed the field in both of those cases as well. Lincoln Riley couldn't have been the happiest man in America after ISU went down to OU last year either, but he was still able to muster up an ounce or two of class, postgame.

DH and WVU aren't the first team to ever lose a game in what was supposed to be "their year". They just handled it more poorly than most.

Plus, as others have mentioned, the team conducts itself like the middle school bully. Something about the players entering Jack Trice Stadium chanting profanities at fans just doesn't make people want to cut them a lot of slack.

It really is a shame. I've actually always cheered for West Virginia football since they have come into the conference for many of the same reasons that you listed. I think a lot of us did. We just haven't ever really beaten the Mountaineers before, so this the first time we have seen WVU throw a fit in person.

It just wasn't a good look.

Others have already said it, but I feel like piling on. WVU's coach and a lot of their players are classless f**ks.

Edit: Same goes for your basketball team.

Murray is going to play major league baseball and Grier is a third rounder at best.

They do a terrible job of existing then. I get what you're saying, but now Ok ST brings the worst team they've had in awhile to play Murray and this offense? No way they keep this one close. I hope I am wrong, but I think we are going to need OU to knock off WVU. Good thing OU will have the CFP to play for.

If DH wants to whine like a teenage girl about others not behaving professionally, then he should start by practicing professionalism himself. O boo hoo, little Dana lost a game in "his year". Boo hoo hoo.

The nice thing is that OSU's back is against the wall. If they don't get at least 2 or 3 wins to finish out, the season is a disappointment.

DH has got to be one of the most unlikable people in college athletics. Why did the former coach go after him? (The one who died)

Random thought I had that I'm curious how ISU would handle this (and yes I fully realize there are bigger fish to fry, etc.). Lets say we get to the point of playing KSU with the CCG still on the line. Do we recognize the seniors playing their last guaranteed home game against KSU? Or do we wait till the IW game and risk seniors like Kempt, Warren, etc. not getting the recognition they deserve? Just curious.

Complete list of ways for Iowa State to control its own destiny heading into the final game v. KSU:

ISU wins the next two weeks, and:

1) OSU beats OU this Saturday; or
2) OU beats WV next Saturday; or
3) TCU beats WV and Texas beats Tech this Saturday, and Baylor beats TCU next Saturday.

And the oddball:

4) ISU loses to Baylor but beats Texas, TCU beats WV this Saturday, and next Saturday OU beats WV and TCU beats Baylor.
Minor correction. OU plays WV on the Friday after Thanksgiving. I am still wanting OU to win out. And I am pulling for the TCU win over WV this weekend so we may not have to rely on OU beating WV in their final game. I would rather have a chance to avenge our loss to OU in the Big 12 championship than beat WV again.

I'm pretty sure the KSU game is when they are having senior night, regardless of the IW game.

LOL. Have you paid any attention to college athletic in the previous 10 years? DH is the villain because of things he said? GTFOH. We have coaches allowing players to die, covering up numerous rape cases, allowing guys who beat their wife to stay around, covering up pedophilia, running guys out on the field right after they're released from jail, and Dana Holgerson hurting your feelings is some big deal?

I am surprised there aren't any scenarios where ISU can control its destiny heading into the game against KSU that involve WVU losing its game next Saturday against OSU. Why is that?

Edit: Nevermind. I think your #2 contains a typo. You meant to say OSU beats WV next Saturday. Correct?

They basically do, the only possible way they could be left out in that scenario is a very unlikely TX/TECH/Baylor/OSU 4 way tie below us if OU/WV/ISU finish tied at 7-2. There's a less than 1% chance of that occuring, so for all realistic possibilities, we would control our own destiny.

I swapped the OU/OSU games in my head. What I wrote was correct -- except that the OU/WV game isn't for three more weeks.

If WVU loses to OSU, there's a 99.8% chance that an undefeated Iowa State would make the B12 CG, but not 100%. The 0.2% is that OSU ends up tied with Texas or TCU in the final standings, which would send it to the point differential tiebreaker.
