Best College Football Traditions

In contrast to the "Worst College Football Traditions" thread...

-Victory songs. "Country Roads, Take Me Home" (West Virginia), "Hang on Sloopy" (Ohio State), "In Heaven There is no Beer" (sorry guys; it's the one Iowa tradition I envy), "Hey Baby" (LSU).

-Live mascots. Love 'em. Ralphie, Bevo, Uga, Baylor's on-campus bear pit, Sooner Schooner, Masked Raider. Only on that sucks is Reveille (A&M's collie).

-Florida State and the burning spear being thrown into the 50 yard line.

-Wisconsin's 5th quarter

Agree. It narrowly missed my cut. Not sure if a Fight Song is a tradition, but that one would be up there.

This is bad ***. The Seminoles (who never surrendered to the US) are just very cool and it's cool that they're down with FSU.

Yup. The one tribe who realizes it's an honor and not a racist joke to be the official mascot for the school.

IIRC, yes. I've never been to an FSU game but the moment he stakes the burning spear into the turf must just be nutz in the stadium.

I agree, I would say it's in my top three games to watch every year no matter how good or bad they are.

Army/Navy game is great too.

Last year was just awesome, with both programs heading to bowl games.

Absolutely. I can't really think of a better term for it, but the production value of college football just BURIES the NFL. I struggle to understand why someone would prefer the NFL experience to the college one. Even on the field of play, college is far more interesting. You rarely see any innovation in the NFL.

I love the guy that sneaks in the Vuvuzuela to ISU games. Also what is that new thing with the lassoing or whatever that the student section does? The "wupwup" thing? I like that, hope it stays around.

If you have ever been to a Tennessee game you would not think Rocky Top is that cool. Sure its catchy, but just like boomer sooner it is all they play and they play it for four hours non stop.
