I've never used the Ninja before, but is it really worth $100? I mean, it's a freaking blender.
I make a fruit smoothie every morning and I use a $20 blender and it works perfect. I've been using it everyday for a couple of years and it still works like new. Does the Ninja allow you to blend concrete and bricks and other material you will never eat? Does it blend faster, so instead of pushing the button for 15 seconds, you only need to blend it for 5 seconds? I just can't justify spending over $100 on a blender.

See how long that $20 blender works when you are making smoothies and drinks. There is a reason bars don't use $20 blenders, they all have vitamix's.

Well, I've been using it every morning for more than 2 years and it still works fine.

Got a Blendtech, very happy. Pretty sure that is above your price point though.

You could just buy 10 of the $20 blenders and still save $200.

Way up there
I've been looking for a blender recently but haven't found anything that just wows me. The closet one is the Ninja BL660. http://www.amazon.com/SharkNinja-BL660-Ninja-Professional-Blender/dp/B00939FV8K

Looking to spend under $125. Anyone have a recommendation? Would be using mostly for smoothies or margs.

As a bachelor I practiced the disposable blender method, probably owned 12-15 different cheap models and was just fine with it. The wife didn't love that idea and sprung for the Ninja you linked with wedding gift cards, it's been great so far, we use it nearly daily for smoothies and it gets lots of use from mixed drinks as well. I'm pretty impressed with it but like I said, my previous experience is with the cheapest, crappiest blenders on the market.
