Those sites are huuuuge scams, can't believe they are legal. I'm not sure if it's become more regulated, but studies were done that showed that like 75% of all bids were made from employees of the company.

Don't you have to buy bids or something like that? In the end it looks like you pay as much or more than just going out and paying the regular price.

Also, yes

I think it's like 60 cents a bid. So an iPad might appear to be $12.32 but in reality the site makes $739.20 plus $12.32 which more than covers the initial cost of the item. I don't think they're a true auction site either as they don't let you name your bid. All bids raised the price by 1 cent. That and I think they usually have some sort of feature to "protect" the bidders from people making a last second bid which extends the time.

Seems like a total scam to me.

This. And if the company isn't making money on the deal they will put their own bids in to start a bidding war with people, or win the auction. This is why a majority of bids made originate from the town in India where the company is ran from.

These sites were good in the beginning back in like 2013. You didn't have as many scam sites. The best one is still Quibids I think. Though the model of penny-auctions is scam like but they don't use auto-bidders from their end like beezid and others.
