I really hope LSU beats down OSU and USC takes down Illinois.

We had the same thing last year. Michigan was taken behind the woodshed against USC and Ohio St. received a beat down of epic proportions against Florida. ESPN/ABC have Big 10 & Pac 10 TV contracts and the Rose Bowl. These teams are going to get lots of hype so that the Big 10 and Pac 10 receive huge ratings. As each year goes by I am having less and less respect for college football. When did this all start to go wrong? When did money become such a huge deal to everything? Sad state of our society.

I could really care less about the NC game now - any combination of OSU-USC-LSU-OU was basically going to make me throw up in my mouth. OSU for the fact that they were going to back into the NC game when they're clearly not good, and then USC-LSU-OU for losing as recently as they have, as of yesterday being 7-8-9 in the BCS poll, and then LSU happens to jump into the national championship game. But then again, this is the BCS, and it's all about the money. Other than the fact that Illinois is a 3-loss team (and very debatable as to whether they belong), it doesn't bother me so much that they're there - it's going to drive Iowa fans nuts that their rival, Illinois, a team they consider themselves superior to, is going to have more BCS appearances this decade than Iowa has. That alone makes it worth it to me. But honestly, the only game this year that really intrigues me is Hawaii-Georgia and probably the only one I'd go out of my way to watch (although I'd probably still like to see Kansas -Va Tech). I just really don't care this year - actually, I can't remember the last time I really DID care about the BCS.

I think the bowl match ups are good and fair. I am sorry Mizzou choked last night so they deserve the Cotton Bowl. As much as I hate to say it KU deserves the Orange Bowl. I have no problem with Illinois in the Rose either.

You want to talk about choking...look at West Virginia. This is how much sense the BCS makes:

#1 Missouri loses to #9 OU. Missouri out of BCS
#2 West Virginia loses to #terrible Pitt. WV in the BCS.
Illinois is 9-3 (with a loss to Missouri who is out of the BCS). Illinois in the BCS.

Terrible. Just terrible.

Mizzou VS KU BCS

Missouri got screwed. No way they should not be in a BCS game. Okay OU beat them twice, but they beat Kansas soundly and played a much tougher schedule.

I'm not trying to down play what Kansas did this year, but the more deserving team was Missouri. All this does is give teams more incentives to play weak schedules.

I think Kansas has a shot to beat VT. I agree Missouri was the better team and should be in the BCS, but basically the chaos was an excuse for bowls to choose the old favorites.

Missouri got absolutely nothing out of beating Kansas.

It'd be interesting to be a fly on the wall in that room. Who knows what kind of deals were struck by KU, alums, etc... That's where the power of fan base comes in...

Nonetheless, MU got screwed

Missouri not only beat KU (Orange Bowl) but also Illinois (Rose).

There's no way getting around that Missouri got screwed. They beat two BCS teams and only losses come to the number 4 team in the BCS.

The only thing Missouri got out of beating Kansas is money. So unless the players are on Gary Pinkel's payroll, the players got absolutely nothing for winning that game in Arrowhead.

You have to remember that the whole point of the BCS is to put #1 vs #2, and then ensure the bowls get attractive match ups (to them). I have no problem with the Rose bowl taking Illinois, since they get their Big 10 - Pac 10 matchup.

Re: Mizzou VS KU BCS

College sports is becoming a waste. It is further and further getting proved that it is all about money. Schools like us, Mizzou will never get anything under the NCAA.

The worst part is there is NOTHING schools like us can do. It is all about the money and they certainly dont need our small drop in the pot, so clearly they dont care.

It's interesting how the computers ended up ranking the teams:
1. Virginia Tech (.960)
2. LSU (.950)
3. Ohio State (.910)
4. Missouri (.850)
5. Kansas (.810)
6(t). Oklahoma (.800)
6(t). Georgia (.800)
8. Arizona State (.690)
9. USC (.650)
10. West Virginia (.640)
11. Florida (.620)
12. Hawaii (.610)
13. Boston College (.570)
14. South Florida (.430)
15. Clemson (.410)
16. Illinois (.390)
17. Tennessee (.350)
18. Virginia (.290)
19. BYU (.280)
20(t). Connecticut (.190)
20(t). Cincinnati (.190)

They pretty clearly had VA Tech and LSU, with Ohio State a somewhat distant 3rd. In case you don't know how it works, the BCS uses 6 computer polls, each with a different, but reasonable methodology and formula for ranking teams. Each poll assigns teams a score from 1-25, with 25 being the highest ranking team, and 1 being the lowest ranking team. They then throw out the highest and lowest ranking, add the 4 remaining polls together, divide by 4 and then again by 25 to arrive at the .xxx number. The higher the .xxx number, the better.

Re: Mizzou VS KU BCS

I can't stand the BCS because of this crap. Every year someone is always getting screwed. This year its Mizzou. Its all about when you lose the game and I can' stand it. Except for LSU, it appears that they can lose whenever and still get into the title game. What a bunch of BS!!!!
