I'm not sure who this d-bag is, but didn't he say he "only does cheese pizza?"

I don't particularly love Casey's pizza anyways (breakfast pizza is awesome) but that should immediately discredit him.

Is he going to judge burger joints without the burger patty? Does he sample lemonade by just eating the ice cubes?

It is so its as solely about the pizza quality as possible. If you're going to do a review/grading system you have to have a level playing field. If he were to do Sausage or Pepp, he'd have to stay with one throughout the whole thing to make it fair. It's not about who has the best specialty pizza, just overall pizza quality.

Was just about to post this. It should be about who has the best pizza. If someone has a specialty, try that. It should be best vs. best. And seriously, if given the choice, why choose cheese pizza?

You can disagree with me @baagoe I am just saying why he does it that way. He said at the beginning of the whole thing (pizza reviews in overall, not this particular one) that "you judge a pizza place on their cheese slice." to set a standard. I don't necessarily agree with it, but it does level the playing field.

I know that's why he does it but I'm not a fan of it. Like I said before, the way I see it should is best vs. best. I can see why he'd want to have it be consistent but I'd rather have the top pizza go against the top pizza.

I don't know man. Good NY style pizza is hard to be. I love Chicago style, but it's more of a casserole than a pizza.

Don't get me wrong, I will eat New York style pizza all day when I am drunk but what is the draw when you are sober? A big thin slice that you can fold? It is a piece of soggy cardboard with cheese and some greasy toppings.

You can claim it is a casserole, not a pizza all you want but with good Chicago style pizza you get a higher quality sauce, a buttery crust, and more cheese. It is more the pie in pizza pie sure but doesn't mean it is not a pizza. If you base your definition off of the bland and boring New York pizza I can see how you make that conclusion.

Give me a deep dish pizza with italian beef and giardiniera over anything New York

I'm out on Casey's Pizza. $12 for a puddle of grease? I mean, I'll eat it, and it isn't terrible, but I am just out on it. Their Chicken Bacon Ranch is real good though.

Rick's Wagon Wheel in Floyd off 218 is my go to Gas Station pizza these days. Of course I live in Floyd, so that helps.

I'm out on the Pepperoni. I'm a huge pepperoni fan but that's too much grease from Caseys. However, I haven't found the rest to be more greasy than other chain stuff. That said, ranch doesn't belong on pizza either so that opinion is wild. Mustard in the sauce is a game changer and every specialty is great.

I thought the cheese thing was crazy too but it's a really good point. He wants to judge the crust, sauce and cheese without someone throwing other stuff at it to cover up those deficiencies. I actually think that the right way to judge a pizza establishment.

On the average, I prefer Chicago style. Your points are all correct there. You clearly haven't had high quality NY style pizza though. I've had some pretty bad Chicago style stuff as well.

I never knew this guy was alive before this but now he's officially dead to me.

I wish I could get Casey's breakfast pizza in Michigan.
