Bad day for the Steven can coach crowd.

College fund investment time, you don't want him blowing it all on daycare party girls.

#golddiggingtoddlers

I'm hoping Cass gets a scholly to play PG on his dad's Cyclone basketball team. That would mean some good things have happened at ISU if Prohm is coaching here that long and Cass is good enough to earn a scholarship.

I look at the team this way: we had stupid collapses against Cincinnati, @Baylor and @texas. If you take away those three losses then this team is a 2 seed most likely and nobody would be whining as badly as they did. Those three games I would NEVER see us losing again if you give us back the last five minutes of each of those games. This team is as good as a 2 or 3 seed right now and is definitely good. The players have grown and matured, and I'm sure Prohm has a lot to do with it. Sure, at times he looked a tad lost or overwhelmed early on (as did his players), but eventually everyone manned up and played to their abilities. This team is damn good and will win a good number of games in the Big Dance. Prohm is a great coach and I am excited about the future with this guy.
The only loss to be discourage from was Iowa. The others the effort/play was good enough but we just lost to good teams or players didn't hit shots or execute (Thomas turnover against Cincy for example). Although disappointing, you don't make global judgments about a new coach on that. Particularly when you have a thin margin (pre Young and Jackson stepping up).

Wow, some previous posters in this thread seem to have evaporated

Yes they have, along with their weak arguments. It takes a big person to look at the facts and acknowledge they were wrong. I suspect that if you look at their previous posts re: past ISU coaches, they were doing the same thing.

Agree, but I didn't throw Iowa in there because we just flat out sucked that game and were not even close. In the three games I mentioned (you can even add in Gonzaga if you want since we cut the lead to 2 but couldn't score a field goal in the last two minutes), we blew the game late. I know if we played Iowa 10 more times we would win at least 9 of them.

I think most of us like myself had issues with Prohm's calling time outs when we started to score after a long drought in a game. We also had issues with Holden playing more minutes when he was pretty much screwing up and not being effective and causing useless fouls. Coach Prohm is now letting the boys keep scoring freely without those weird timeouts that in my(if not most) opinions, left us scratching our heads wondering why would he call timeout when the team is starting to get into the rythm. So maybe Prohm learned something from our criticism. Solomon Young has been the game changer too, so not all you "True" fans out there predicted that Solomon Young was going to be getting the much needed rebounds and score like he is doing now. So don't act like you are Miss Cleo here because you were punicking also but just didn't have the balls to rightly criticize Coach Prohm. I also called him pathetic in one thread, but after the KU win, I retracked my words because he has been doing a great job.

Pretty sure Prohm did not learn from some random message board's criticism.

Its not about balls, its about understanding that losing teams/franchise panic during the rough patches, and those that keep their cool tend to have longer term success

Agree there is nothing wrong with fair criticism. Questioning of timeouts, etc. Have at it. (And this is probably where you fall)

My frustration is not pointed towards that fan at all.

It's when it turns into the comments of "this is the way it will always be." "Guy is a mid major coach" "Bring back Fred" that is just stupid ignorant fan. Who does not wait for the season to play out, and assume a few bad games determine the ability of a coach. I think this is the minority of fans, but man they sure are f'ing irritating.

For me I had a feeling it was going to take awhile to figure out the front line situation. We graduated one of the better front lines in ISU history.

Until they developed even the smallest amount of adequate post presence, the offense was going to struggle. The numbers on the transfers did not point to the highest potential, numbers were pretty pedestrian. Was going to take awhile to figure it out, maybe a little longer than I had hoped, but felt confident the new guys would gel. Holden never really did I guess, but Young absolutely did, and Bowie, has had more big 12 level games lately.
And I absolutely think Morris did not trust any of his post guys early in the season.

I already wonder what will happen next year with a big rebuild. wonder if the fire Prohm bunch will be out in full force if the team starts out slowly, because that is probably what is going to happen, a slow start with improvement through the year.

Actually if the lose to Nevada, the fire him will start then. :)

We need to enjoy this. 6 Tournaments in a row. 3 conference <tournament> titles in 4 years. Players that give it their all and exhibit good character.

Really proud of where they were and where they are now. Prohm gives the credit to the players and I really like that about him.

And a group of players that has embraced being Cyclones like few have.

Since everyone else, including the original poster have long since disappeared from this, I'll stand up and admit I was wrong about Prohm. I think I probably called him out as being a mid-major coach and was critical of the way we were playing. I thought we were alot better team than we were playing like even going back to last year. I was also a little critical of his transfer recruits as Bowie and Holden didnt look to be the caliber of transfer we were accustomed to seeing.

I was still probably a little bitter over Hoiberg leaving also so it took me some time to accept he was gone and we have Prohm now.

I really like the way this team has come together and the last month or so is what I felt we were capable of with the talent and experience that we had this year. I was also impressed by Prohm giving Solomon a shot. I think this was the turning point in our season honestly.

I was wrong about him and Im excited for the future with these recruits coming in also. Sustained success like this will also hopefully allow him to get top transfers also. I think that Prohm wanted to teach defense and those results are obvious, I just think it took almost 2/3rds of the season for both the offense and defense to click. Im excited for this tournament run and cant wait to see what some of these new recruits can bring next year.

See... that wasn't so tough. I admit I had doubts as well. I just keep my mouth shut when nothing positive could ever possibly come from what I have to say on a message board. Think about it.

I'm not a sunshine pumper. I feel anger and frustration at times watching ISU games... all sports. If i feel i need to say anything when I'm angry or frustrated, I know it's a bad idea.

Food for thought.

They better not, even if we go down to Nevada. So many accomplishments this season. After all, Bilas has picked Nevada because they have two NBA'ers.....geez, we must be facing a very 'under-seeded' opponent.

I love when pessimists are severely wrong. Patience is a virtue, I never wavered from 10-8, need to be a little more optimistic myself. I did say 12-6 was our ceiling after the non-con. Prohm coached us to the ceiling then won the tourney. Helluva job.

The Mods should rename this thread: "I Love Eating Crow Now"
