So how much money did Prohm get paid today for bringing home new hardware? I forget the specifics of his contract.

He is worth every dollar of it and more. I'm 100% sold, he turned our 13-8 team of disappointing "basketball" confusion into Big 12 Champs. Our players have completely bought in, even our bench guys are happy to be there. Players have taken on new roles, changes in playing time, changes in style... and their cooperation and dedication to the system won each of them some swag and a piece of a Sprint Center hoop net.

While all of this ends with the players, it begins with Prohm and his staff... And they have earned their keep.

This thread is just proof there are some that take the season as a whole before making opinions, and there are some that live and die each and every moment. A little of both probably makes the best fan.

Really? I'm not sure how declaring Hilton Magic Dead and the program destroyed immediately before a team goes on a nine or ten game sprint makes someone look anything other than a chump.

People are entitled to their opinions, of course. It's when they can't balance them that people tend to point and laugh.

Sigh. I think we're both smart enough to exclude the extremists in the fanbase. Obviously 99% of the fans don't think Hilton Magic is dead. They understand a lot of it is how good the team is. Our fans make an average team good at home, a good team great at home, and a great team elite at home (typically).

I would love to go back about 7 weeks and see what some of you "holier than thou" fans were posting during some of our games back then, but it isn't worth my time. I'm sure I'd see a lot of people predicting we'd win the Big 12 Tournament back then, right? Nope. So don't come on here now and act like you knew we'd finish the season like this, because NOBODY did.

And what am I supposed to apologize for anyway? At the time, we were playing like hot garbage. Most on here agreed. And yes, if we continued to play like that, we wouldn't have even ended up in the NIT. So when your team is playing like that, then what's wrong with saying it?

Luckily Prohm made the necessary changes and we kept improving and not making the same mistakes we continued to make during the first half of the year. I give Prohm and the players all the credit in the world for what they've been able to do this year.

But don't kid yourself if you weren't ticked off to no end after the Iowa game, or the Texas game, etc, etc. There is nothing wrong as a fan to call out your senior laden team for not playing like a senior laden team should. We're fans, fanatics, and that's what fanatics do. That's what makes this all fun. Just enjoy it all and be glad it happened the way it did instead of going back and acting like you were a so much better fan than anyone else, when you really aren't at all.

I did. I said we were still a 5 or 6 seed so you can bring it on if you'd like. It didn't take a rocket scientist to figure out that sometimes you lose to ok teams on the road when you don't play well. That happened twice just like it does for most of the tournament field. I could also actually take a look at the numbers via kenpom and see that it was incredibly unlikely that we'd just keep losing every close game and I could look at the second half of the conference schedule and see that it lined up pretty nicely. So, no, I won't just accept you guys rationalizing you guys acting like children for a few weeks. You couldn't look at the whole body of work and figure it out while some others, at worst, were able to look at it and not panic like their world was coming to an end. That's not our fault. Maybe in the future you guys will let things play out a little more instead of throwing a **** fit because we lost to a bubble team and another 70ish rated team on the road.

I live and die every moment I just have a high basketball IQ and also accept that losses will happen in a season and the only thing that matters is the NCAA tournament.

I understand getting down in January, however the garbage I was reading on here was over the top. I would be lying to you if I told you I expected us to go on a run and get to where we are, but that isn't the point so stop killing the straw man. The point is to show how irrational and outrageous some of you were. I am smart enough to know that a season's success isn't decided in January.

A couple things I noticed about this thread that need to be pointed out.....

-It was created in response to the "Bad Day for Prohm Cant Coach thread" after we had just beaten Kansas. Pretty typical, we just had the best win in years and some poster decided to call out fans. I saw my post from back then and I was just annoyed because I didnt think Prohm had done anything different, we just got hot from behind the 3 line at Kansas

-This was a very divided board when this thread was started after the Texas loss. Judging by the number of "likes" of each post there were still alot of people upset around here, not a really small minority. One reason I was so upset and made a couple posts after the Texas game is not because we lost but because the players were even quoted after the game that they werent ready to play and underestimated Texas because they just beat Kansas. Thats what really set me off at the time. Had we kept trading wins like we had the first 2/3 of the season we would have been sweating it out yesterday.

I cant speak for everyone but Im extremely happy how things turned out. Its bothersome to me though that threads like this are started then revived after 2 of the biggest wins of the year. My first inclination is to celebrate, call my friends, re-watch the games, and get on here to read positive threads, not go create an "I told you so thread".

I think most of us like myself had issues with Prohm's calling time outs when we started to score after a long drought in a game. We also had issues with Holden playing more minutes when he was pretty much screwing up and not being effective and causing useless fouls. Coach Prohm is now letting the boys keep scoring freely without those weird timeouts that in my(if not most) opinions, left us scratching our heads wondering why would he call timeout when the team is starting to get into the rythm. So maybe Prohm learned something from our criticism. Solomon Young has been the game changer too, so not all you "True" fans out there predicted that Solomon Young was going to be getting the much needed rebounds and score like he is doing now. So don't act like you are Miss Cleo here because you were punicking also but just didn't have the balls to rightly criticize Coach Prohm. I also called him pathetic in one thread, but after the KU win, I retracked my words because he has been doing a great job.

The bolded is the type of thing people are calling out. Not that anyone doubted his coaching in those specific games. Everyone had questions and doubts. Criticism is fine. Straight up attacks and far reaching conclusions mid season are what is being called out.

And 18 out of 19 people agreed with my post that we shouldn't be creating entire threads ripping fans after the Kansas win also.

Both posts were ridiculous and shouldn't have been made after Kansas or the Texas loss, I think that's the bottom line.

So, our coach was pathetic until he listened to the whiners? You actually have the cahones to try and take credit for the outstanding play of our team and coaches?

I disagree with the people that say bringing this back up now isn't fun. Hell, I find it very fun. I think it is always good to be reminded that all of us are mostly idiots when posting on message boards.

I think the problem I have with a lot of these types of posts, is that they imply that the coach and/or players have no clue about anything and don't want to win. It's one thing to be upset about a game. It is another thing to act like you, a random fan, has any ******* idea on how to solve problems or has the information needed to make these decisions.

I look at the team this way: we had stupid collapses against Cincinnati, @Baylor and @texas. If you take away those three losses then this team is a 2 seed most likely and nobody would be whining as badly as they did. Those three games I would NEVER see us losing again if you give us back the last five minutes of each of those games. This team is as good as a 2 or 3 seed right now and is definitely good. The players have grown and matured, and I'm sure Prohm has a lot to do with it. Sure, at times he looked a tad lost or overwhelmed early on (as did his players), but eventually everyone manned up and played to their abilities. This team is damn good and will win a good number of games in the Big Dance. Prohm is a great coach and I am excited about the future with this guy.

The thread was ripping fans who were ripping our coach and/or players, I guess don't dish it if you can't take it?

Bingo. Fans saying some pretty trashy stuff about the coach and players they are fans of. I get being critical and am fine with it, but when you are a total douche bag, irrational twat, or melodramatic queen on an internet message board, you should fully expect getting called out for it when your idiocy is shown. God forbid fans rip fans for ripping the team and coaches they cheer for. What did they expect?

I respect people who publicly eat their crow.

I would even sort of admire somebody who stuck to their guns and say they still think Prohm is a poor coach. They'd be wrong, but consistent at least.

But what do you do with the guys who throw the team and coaches under the bus the moment the going gets tough despite no information or insight into the situation and then get indignant that people remember their kicking, screaming fit when they are later proven wrong?

You bust their balls a bit in hopes they reconsider their approach, without really expecting them to. That's all this is.
