Lately I have noticed AthletixNation ads popping up on CycloneFanatic. These ads are causing issues for me for two reasons: 1.) I don't have a really fast connection so they really slow everything down when loading. 2.) I don't have an internet connection with unlimited data transfer, so constantly loading video without me asking is extremely annoying. I don't want to end up paying extra fees just because of some ads that I'm not paying attention to.

I plan to fix this myself by completely blocking their domain on my end, but there may be other users who don't like the ads.

Other users who don't like their ads? Count me in on that. I do have a decently fast connection, but I usually watch my sports on ESPN3. When I get one, or two even, of those AthletixNation ads running, it seems to really mess up the feed on ESPN3, at least until I scroll down to the bottom of the page and hit pause on the AtletixNation ads.

Google Chrome + Notscripts

This helps stop viruses too.

Notscript does the job, although I'm not sure what is more annoying, getting the ads, or having to whitelist everything.

Eh, after a day or two you pretty much don't have to whitelist anything anymore.

So... these things now play these kia ads, with audio, if you leave the page open for awhile, making it impossible to keep CF open while doing other work. I'm not seeing a mute for this either. Can this be fixed\removed?

It's been reported. Thanks for the heads up.

The Activia ad has sound that plays and it comes up every other ad. I leave my desk for 3 seconds and my manager is on me asking what i'm watching online when I should be working. They don't mind me surfing cf, but they always think its a video feed.

edit. i cant find a mute on this activia commercial and its driving me nuts.

But I did notice HN has these ad/highlight machines also, but they put there on the top of the site. Thanks for at least not doing that.

AdBlock is a wonderful tool.

For those of us whose IT department won't let us install alternate browsers or add-ons, you can block the Shockwave plugin through Internet Explorer. Works OK. I believe it's in the "Extensions" section of the settings.

Internet Options > Programs > Manage Add-ons.
