Do you guys recognize that there are only about 9 Arkansas fans that are actually participating substantively in the discussion on their site? If it weren't for popcornhog and cy4prez7, the thread would probably have died out.

P.S. I've never been so glad to have Cy as our mascot as I am now that I've been on their site and seen all the pig/hog usernames!

Also, this leads me to believe that it is not the real tuco posting over there. He conveniently avoids addressing the referee situation on our site. He would never say the following (unless it was the ultimate troll move):

"Believe it or not, it was Big 12 refs, and they tend to favor Iowa State in all events."

there are posters that still owe me beer for actions on the board ..... so i can't trust any of you now.

I miss Deano and LakeSteer. Those were the good old days. Kind of like having a pet gold fish. Stop by and tap the glass, watch them thrash about wildly and then move on.

Now that I look back on it - LakieBoy was as about as much fun as I have had this football season. That is really depressing....

Anybody watching/watch Arkansas vs Wake tonight??

Lots of talent on the Arkansas team. They really took it to Wake Forest. It will be fun to see how they react to having to get downcourt as fast on defense as they like to do on offense. I think this will be a great opportunity to see how deep our bench really is. Arkansas won't be able to be as potent on offense when they are having to run for their lives to get back on defense on every play.

I completely forgot that Texas Tech's Dusty Hannahs had transferred to Arkansas. Is he sitting out this year?

Arkansas was pretty impressive physically. They won't be able to press us like they did against Wake Forest though and it's going to be the normal pull their big guy out, we then start dictating the matchups, take them out of their game, win setup. Wake looked like a JV team size and physicality wise. They were blown out before the ball even went in the air.

Yeah, I was flipping back and forth between that game and the OU/Creighton game, so I only caught glimpses. Looks like they can shoot the 3. I'd be curious to see some stats for their road shooting ability. We'll have to keep Portis intact. Looks like they ran 10 deep and I think it was Qualls who looked pretty athletic. They ran mostly man to man, but incorporated a little zone too on defense. I think we can definitely out rebound them and keep them off the glass for 2nd chance points. Should be a good game to watch.

Yea, that's why I find their trend towards overconfidence a bit confusing. Outside of the big Kentucky upset last year, don't they have a well-documented problem winning on the road? I don't care if Hilton isn't more intimidating than Rupp, that doesn't change that it's been a problem for them. I think they could win, it's definitely a dangerous game for us, but they're treating it like coming up to play in Ames is no big deal.

Their fans think that if we try to run with them, they'll run us out of the gym.

I think their fans mistake playing a frantic style for a "running" style. It's weird that their fans seem to think they are some crazy push the ball at every chance running team. Their defense is what is uptempo more so than their offense.

But, but, but, the win in Rupp last year. But, but, but nobody can run with us. But, but, but, you guys can't play 30 MPG and expect to keep up with us. Man I can't wait for them all to eat their words.

It is so much fun reading out of conference opponents boards before the game and after the game watching them all eat crow. From Georgia St this year, UNC last year, Notre Dame two years ago, UCONN three years ago. All were supper confident that we couldn't play the style of game we want to and be successful against them.

I'm sure Arkansas is the lone exception in all of college basketball that will make us change our game plan:pconfused:

Do I think it could be a tough game, yes. Do I think there is any scenario where they run us out of our gym? Hell no.

Their uptempo consists of turning the opponent over. We do not turn the ball over that much. I think the better question is can they keep up with us when they are pressuring and do not cause turnovers?

I watched quite a bit of it. Arkansas is very athletic, but it seemed to me that most of the time their offense just seemed like it was sort of out of control. They were good shooters, but then too, Wake Forest were horrible at defense. The other thing that was clear was that WF had terrible shooters, even when they had open shots. The team was 1 of 18 from behind the arc, and it wasn't because of tight defense by Arkansas. Despite the "frantic" pace, Arkansas only got up 2 shots more than WF did. The difference in the game was the 20 turnovers by WF, and the poor shooting by them. If ISU has 20 turnovers in a game, this board will implode.

It will be a good game, but ISU has much better shooters than WF, and I think they can handle the pressing defense much better. Too bad ISU still will not have McKay by then, but with the game at Hilton, they still should be able to pull out a close win.

Kentucky was so raw early on last year and didn't get their chemistry figured out completely until the Tournament. Even then, they had a few lucky wins to get them to the ship. Were they good, yes. Should that take anything away from Arkansas victory at Rupp, no. But, if that's their go to on well we play well on the road, ehhh...they do seem a bit overconfident. This will be a tough game no doubt, but to act like some of them are, lol they may be in for a rude awakening. It'll be interesting to see Thomas and Nader fit into the system against Bama. We'll need them against Arkansas. Especially Nader's length.

I love how they think they can out run us. I dare them to try it. It wont turn out well. I don't know why they think they can use pace to beat Hoiball. Nobody has ever done that. Not Bill Self, not John Beilein, not Roy Williams, not Thad Matta, not John Calipari. When we have lost under Hoiberg it's because we were outsized or flat out beat due to lack of defense or lack of talent. Never once have we lost because we were consistently beaten down the court or because we couldn't get enough shots off. I know I've posted this 20 times already, but i just can't wrap my brain around why they think they will be the ones to do it when the coaches I listed had elite talent when we played them, but not one of them attempted to out run us. It's like they threw every single other factor of basketball, like height, talent, and defense right out the window. The appears to be 1 guy who has seen us play that gets ignored for the people saying Georges is a 3rd option at best(LOL!!!!), saying Hoiberg is going to slow the game down(yeah right), and the people considering this game a given win because of 1 game last season. This isn't stupidity, it just seems like absolute ignorance that could be fixed by watching a couple of our games, but some of them just seem to think they know us better than we do just by glancing at stats from last season instead. It's just unbelievable.

With two new people, we do not know how our team will be. All I know is we play a good game and the opponent needs to keep up.
