I equally love the takes where people pretend Breece Hall would be famous and making alot of money if he were good at checkers instead of football. Who do you think drives all this money?
Who is making that claim? Breece Hall is good at football. Both he ànd Iowa State mutually benefited from him playing here. That's it. Him sitting out the bowl game doesn't change any part of that transaction.

Who the hell do you think pays for all this stuff? The free tuition, new facilities, free meals, bowl game trips, NIL money? Yeah, we pay for all this including his new NFL contract but we should just shut up because they don't owe us anything?

It has been mutually beneficial, however those who view it as a transaction are the same who don't care about opt outs.

They should make like a mid-season NFL combine training center or something, and then players could leave and go there to train for the draft.

That way we don't have this whole charade of players just standing on the sidelines all game and having the broadcast pan to them during the bowl game every 10 minutes.

It would simultaneously assist the players in achieving their goals of playing professionally in addition to allowing them to leave the teams at an earlier point rather than the bowl game if they are ready to move on (and concerned about injury).

Then if they want to watch the bowl game, they can buy a ticket and see it from the stands like everyone else.

Ok? And water is wet, too. What other shocking revelation are you going to hit us with?

It's just funny to me that we as fans drive the entire industry but then when it comes to topics like this we should just shut up and respect their decisions.

That's not how it works. Without us it might as well be a chess tournament.

Breece Hall and Mike Rose did more for Iowa State than OP would do in 100 lifetimes so he can kindly shut the **** up.

If Breece would have played last night and torn an ACL I would feel horrible for him.

I also applaud Kolar for making the choice to play but that doesn't affect one iota how I feel about Hall and Rose as Cyclones. They were amazing for our program.

Can't wait to see those guys suit up on Sunday.

You are absolutely free to whine about how you feel Breece Hall owes you something because you don't believe he lived up to the investment you as a fan made in him. That's 100% your choice to be the kind of person who does that. Nobody is stopping you or silencing you.

The other RBs averaged 4.7 per carry to Breece's 5.9.

If we replace his carries with their carries we get 300 less yards for the season, about 23 per game, taking us from 423 yards per game to 400 yards per game.

I don't think Manning is good, I think Breece is great, but saying we wouldn't be a bowl team without Breece is wrong.
And you are delusional if you don't think that defenses keying on Breece didn't open up the passing game.

I'm not being critical.......just asking why now? If money is the primary concern, once the teams goals were shot after TTU, exactly what was to gain playing in some meaningless conference games? If it's for fans, teammates......all those things of a 5 star "culture", are those not still valid at a bowl game? Was the risk of getting injured and losing millions less against TCU than Clemson? If the flip side to that is it doesn't matter if the fans, the school or most important OTHER PLAYERS agree with them.....then Tornado is correct......that's fine, but let's drop the "5 star culture" pose.

It's not only about injury risk. He probably used the last month to get healthy and train for the combine. Something he would not have been able to do until now, had he played in this game. Training for the combine is quite different than football practice and he would not have been able to do both.

He likely realized there was nothing more that he could show on the field to help him improve his draft position, and only downside risk.

However, if he can improve his 40 start/technique, get healthy, and peak from an explosive standpoint, he can move up in the draft.

You should tweet at Breece and tell him that he owed it to you to play in the bowl game!

In addition people who are saying what is the difference between the regular season and the bowl game? Well how about a whole month. Unless it is a catastrophic injury like a torn ACL or something like that a whole extra month to heal fully and get back into peak shape for the combine is huge. It isn't just about time to heal, it is about being at your peak when you go on display for all the decision makers for the draft.

Good post. A little thoughtful for the Internet, so I'm not sure how it got to our postgame discussion, but really good points.
