I only caught the teaser on the news the other night, but is it true that tickets aren't selling like the proverbial hot cakes that Alamo Bowl officials had hoped and assumed?

I think that the diehard Iowa fans already have their tickets, at least the diehard fans I know, everyone else is waiting to see who else is picked to play them.

But I thought all Iowa fans are "diehard" and never bandwagon. Talk about an overrated fan base. Try putting ISU into that Big Ten Bowl tie-in system and imagine our numbers at the last couple Bowl games we would have gone to...

They know it's a farce that they made it to the Alamo bowl, and they probably don't want to pay for the trip just to see their hawkeyes lose.

The only statement being made is that the Alamo bowl cares more about money than honoring good teams. I hope they get burned badly by this move.

When they announced that Iowa would play Texas during the wrestling meet today, there was very little applause or cheering, the casual fans have already written it off as a loss and are looking towards next season.

ya, an easy win for texas. Colt McCoy will run all over them. I mean Iowa finished off loosing to Minnesota, Wisconson who is good, Northwestern and Indiana.

I thought McCoy's status was doubtful for the bowl game. With his backup transferring, the talk was about a senior walk-on starting at QB. If this is true, and considering the K-State performance, I wouldn't put one in Texas' W column just yet. The Hawks have some time to heal and get their heads straight, and a record of playing fairly well against good opposition.

FYI: I attended the Hawks' Orange and Capital One Bowls, and it is absolultely beyond question that there were more Iowa fans at both of them than there are Cyclone fans at their home games at Jack Trice. Hawk fans outnumbered USC fans by 10 to 1 at a minimum and LSU fans by at least 4 to 1. In fact, I would venture to say that more than 30K fans attended both of the pre-game pep rallies held the night before the games. I would only note that I find quite incredible any claim that the Clones would send more fans to a bowl game than they actually have at games in their own backyard.

I would also point out that we have no idea how many Hawk fans will attend the Alamo Bowl game, but I'll bet you'll be quite surprised, considering the "down" season they had.

Cyclonekj, did you create the ISU Superman logo or did you get that from somewhere? I would love to have a T-shirt like that.

Oh look, we have another dillusional troll here. Sales slow at McDonald's so he snuck on the boss's computer. Outnumbered USC fans 10-1 clearly shows how much paint you have huffed.

I found it from somewhere. There is a higher-res version uploaded to the gallery. Add me to your t-shirt list!

Where did anyone say that ISU would send more fans to a bowl game than they get to their home games?? Everyone knows that Iowa has more fans than ISU so congrats on pointing that out. I was just saying that our recent bowl attendance (which was actually quite good) would have been a lot better had our conference been linked to better bowl games. Try to imagine if Iowa had gone to Shreveport twice in the last few years...I'm thinking they'd have more fans than we got but not by much.

Exactly.....Add Boise into that and the 2003 0-8 conference season and lets see how many hawk fans attend their next bowl game. I just wish they got what they deserved and would be playing a MAC school in detroit. Then we could have said "Look Iowa, you only brought 4,000 to your your bowl game to watch your 6-6,2-6 team." Instead they get a good bowl with a marque opponent with no QB. Typical. Frickin Typical.

I suspect Iowa will come close to selling out its allotment of 11,000 tickets to the bowl game...or rather, I suspect there will be that many Iowa fans at the bowl game.

To the point in bold...ISU in the B10's tie ins the last two years. Last year you would have gone to El Paso or Nashville. Two years ago you would have gone to Nashville or Detroit.

Jon, please layout your pairings over the last 2 year had ISU been in the Big 10.

Hmm....interesting. Could you name the teams that would have been ahead of us and their bowls, respectively? I can't quite recall all of the Big 10 teams' records.

I don't think Jon was saying anything about us being in the Big Ten. Just if the the Big XII had the tie-in's and the records stayed the same. It would be hard to actually predict what our record would have been playing in the Big Ten.
