Swanson the gold glove SS who’s hit 12 HRs already this season?
I’d say both sides are valid here. He had two hits a walk and a dinger but it’s obvious he doesn’t believe in a two strike approach
Pat and Ron said Schwarbs has a great eye and then he struck out 3 times.
Don't get me wrong, he can hit it a mile but its all or nothing with him.
He is kind of like Adam Dunn, you are either going to get a bomb or a strikeout from him although I think Schwarber might be slightly better defensively than Dunn was. Dunn did have 6 seasons with 40+ HR and just missed 40 two other times with 38. Very similar career numbers:
Schwarber: 17.2 WAR .231/.345/.493/.838 304 career HR
Dunn: 17.9 WAR .237/.364/.490/.854 462 career HR
What I remember of Dunn he probably could work a count a little better than Schwarber and took more walks. Schwarbs has 703 BB in 4956 PA while Dunn had 1317 in 8328 so that is .142 to .158 which is closer than I thought it would be. The more I did into their stats the more similar I find them.
I recall the terminology for that being a “3 true outcome” player. Meaning, very little ball in play — it’s either walk, home run, or strikeout.
47 walks .375 OBP seems like a good eye to me

Of all the lineups, that is indeed one of them.
I'm not sure PCA has had an off day all year. Probably not a bad idea to get him a day off.
If the game is close I could see him PH/PR in the late innings. But yeah, let the kid have a day off before a 4 game series.
They are playing 19 games with only one off day that comes next Monday. Going to need to rest some of starting 8 they have run out every day since Shaw came back up. vs a left handed starter following a night game makes sense and probably in the plan all week. Don't need to wear out the guys in June.
those types of players don't tend to age well. The difference between an above average player and an unplayable player with his skill set is batspeed.
