There are 5,000 tickets that are up to be sold. Orangebloods are not overly excited about playing Hawks. Kinda looking at the 6-6 record and not impressed. Has been talked about that Drew Tate is from Texas, and he use to be better - and Hawks have "1" big guy on the line....not sure who that remark would be referencing....

I'm game with the ISU superman t-shirts........I wouldn't worry about Iowa and their 6-6 possibly 6-7, 4 million dollar season....that alone makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside and no iowa fan has a good comeback to it now that we've hired chizik and appear to be moving in the right direction.

Iowa sold out their allotment, and its the first sellout in Alamo Bowl history. That has mostly to do with Texas fans buying tix, but there are probably going to be 13,000 Iowa fans at the game. Iowa fans did their job again, cementing them as one of the most bankable fan bases in the eyes of the bowls.

I think that Clone fans are the same way, outside of being sent to Shreveport...and I am not making a joke there...I don't blame people for not wanting to go there twice, yet the Clone fans didnt do a bad job there.

13,000 is a number you're happy with? Sheesh....I think that even our fan base could surpass that number easily if taken for San Antonio, and we're bagged on constantly by Iowa fans about how we don't support our team.

Russ brought up a great point that you didn't address on another board, Jon. What happens when Iowa continues to get picked for upper tier bowl games, but doesn't have the talent to compete and gets crushed every year because they're playing against teams that truly are worthy of the upper tier bowl games in terms of talent and earned their way there?

I'll be fine with it if I eat my words on this one. However, if Iowa gets 40 pointed down there, do you think that the fans will continue following the team to upper tier bowl games if it doesn't appear they can compete with the teams that they get paired up against?

I am sure that you would send more to the Alamo, because the Alamo Bowl might be considered one of the two best bowls that ISU has been to. You sent 30,000 to the Insight bowl, and that is beneath the Alamo in the pecking order and prestige.

With Texas playing, no need to sell more than 13,000. Sellout came early. Any word if Cotton Bowl sold out?

The Good. When you do not go bowling, the nmew coaches can go recruit all the time.

The Bad. The players need the extra practice.

The Ugly Truth. We need the recruits more than the practice.

You also have to realize a team from the state of iowa is going to get alot more backing in florida or arizona as opposed to texas, because of the iowan populations in those 2 states during the winter time.
