In the regular season. Then when the playoffs came, it was the same old Favre.

He certainly had a tough time against New Orleans, but one could argue that was more about the protection (or lack thereof) he had from his O-Line.

But, he had 4 TD's, 0 TO's and a rating of 134 against Dallas in the playoffs. Can't complain about those numbers. (unless you're a Dallas fan)

what do you guys think of matt schaub? i think he's right on the edge of being an NFL elite. Actually, the Texan's themselves could be a playoff team this year. They have finally gotten some stability and are developing an identity. They are a fun team to watch.

Good QB. Hard to judge as he has never stayed healthy long enough to get a good feel for. I don't see him ever being an elite QB. Kind of like Tony Romo

I agree San Diego's targets are a little better, but don't forget about Chester Taylor catching the ball out of the backfield. It didn't matter that AP isn't a pass catcher.

SD had an average to below average Defense. O-Line somewhat solid, but the running game was not very good with LT slowed.

dude, this really isn't even a debate...favre played amazing last year and his intangibles/experience i'd take over rivers any day. btw he did not CHOKE in the playoffs, he got beat up and toughed his way through the saints game after destroying a pretty good cowboys defense. look at pictures of his ankle the next day if you don't believe me. this being while rivers' team lost their first game against a team they were highly favored to beat. don't tell me river's would have done any better under the circumstances because he had very similar if not better circumstances and failed.

in other news Adrian Peterson is easilly in the top 5 best NFL players right now...way ahead of Chris Johnson in my opinion. the number of tackle's he's breaking this year is insane (no fumbles yet by the way).

Way up there
Nowhere near Peyton's level, no one is. He's the best of the next level of QB's for sure, and as a Bears fan thats tough for me to say.

I would say Brees is just as good as Rodgers. Brees doesn't fold under pressure. And he's very accurate.

I agree...but nobody is saying that.

Question is.....can AR sustain greatness over 5 years/10 years/20 years like Favre. It will be interesting to see.

The great difference between Favre's great years and AR prime now is that Favre had Holmgren.

AR is saddled with one of the terrible GM/Coaches in the game. IMO.
Your off on this Palmer. TT is a Ron Wolf disciple, and McCarthy has done quite well. Don't let the Favre fiasco cloud your judgement. It needed to be done.

There is some argument to be made there. I am in full agreement with you on the Favre deal and it took brass balls for TT to step up and be the one to finally give him the boot.

But other than that TT is as stubborn as there is when it comes to his GM position. His policy of strictly drafting and building from within, even when there are glaring weaknesses (RB and OL come to mind this year) just seems ridiculous at some point. He will not even consider going out and digging around for potential free agents right now while the run game averages like 2.8 ypc.

Then MM stands up front and says he likes where the run game is right now and they don't need it to be the focal point of their offense. While I agree with that, at some point you will have to run the ball and not addressing the problems is just ridiculous.

Nope, he didn't choke. Not at all.

I mean, it's not like a FG wouldn't have won the NFC title game for the Vikings. Instead, Favre just HAD to win the game on his own. Sure, he took a beating that game - but the beating he took had absolutely NOTHING to do with him blowing the chance the Vikings had at winning that game in regulation because Favre just HAD to win that game with his arm. That is pretty much the pure definition of a choke job.
