Looking at how Big 12 teams are ranked in some of the way too early top 25s, it's clear Houston is not just the clear favorite in the league, but the entire country. And maybe it's a recency bias thing, because after the elite 8 collapse, a lot of people are sleeping on Tech.

ESPN:
1-Houston
13-Iowa State
15-Kansas
16- BYU
17-Arizona
22- Tech

Sport Illustrated
1-Houston
6-Kansas
7-BYU
14-Tech
19-Arizona
21-Baylor
23-Iowa State

Fox
1-Houston
6-Tech
10-Iowa State
12-Kansas
14-Arizona
21-BYU

USA Today
1-Houston
5-BYU
7-Tech
14-Iowa State
17-Kansas
23-Arizona
25-Baylor

On3
1-Houston
7-Iowa State
9-Kansas
17-BYU
22-Arizona
24-Tech
Here ya go:

Am I crazy for being super high on Pleta? I feel like I am crazy but also think hes going to come in and make an unexpected splash next season.
I am hopeful as well. It's hard to tell if his game will translate in the way we hope it will. His highlight videos are really enticing. Ball in Europe has improved tremendously over the past 30 years, but still difficult to see. If he is the "Diamond in the Rough" we all hope he'll be, he could really raise next year's team's ceiling.

Do you all think Heise will start over that EWU transfer? Heise made a lot of improvement towards the end of the year, but he still seems like a 6th/7th man.
I think heise plays a lot next season. he was clearly improving game by game and got green light to be more aggressive as the year went on. self imposed or coach imposed, the safety belt got looser and looser and he got better and better.

Regarding intro:

History was made Monday night, as Todd Golden became the youngest coach to win a national championship since 1983 ...

So ... history actually wasn't made at all.
history was made. he is the second youngest coach to win a title. It was phrased poorly though. history would have been made if he lost too. history is made with any action at all really.

I will give you that one about Heise improving a lot. The question is if he's ready to be around 10 points per game or not. We will need that out of him. I'm hoping he is ready to make that leap.

I also have high expectations for Pleta, but it's tough to tell with these guys from Europe. The competition between the league he played in and Big 12 basketball is a major gap.

He looked the part in his late starts. Really, I have zero worries about a starting lineup of Lipsey, Heise, Momcilovic, Jefferson and Buchanon. It's important to add another talented guy for depth and versatility though.

If the guys step up, sure, that's a solid lineup. If Batemon is ready right away and the EWU guy (I keep forgetting his name) are ready to contribute a good amount then our guards and 3 position is pretty set.

his defense alone will get him minutes. anything over 5pts a game is a win

Heise averaged 9.2 pts over his last 10 games of the season. I find it incredibly difficult to see him dipping back down to 5 points a game with the loss of Gilbert and Jones.

What metric is Sport Illustrated using to determine Kansas is the 6th best team next year with 3 guys on their roster?

If Iowa State is going to be a top ten team next year it really feels like one of the newcomers needs to come in and be an absolute stud. Maybe Mason Williams is that guy. Maybe Buchanan takes a major leap. Maybe one of the freshman is an absolute player.

TJ and staff have also shown an ability to land standout transfers late in the transfer portal process as well. Brockington and Osunniyi both commited May 5. Jefferson was April 23rd. The next few weeks will be big after the dead period. Hopefully there is a bit of an under the radar diamond in the rough out there.
