Purple Daily was talking about why Minnesota hadn't signed a backup QB yet, and explained that it's likely an effort to work the compensatory pick system. As of now, they stand to get both a 3rd and 4th round pick in the 2026 draft, due to the loss of Darnold and Robinson. It they sign a QB now to maybe a $10 million deal, that cancels out the Robinson deal, meaning they wouldn't get the 4th round pick. If they wait to sign someone until after the draft, it doesn't count in the formula, though.
But of course, they're not going to come out and say "We're going to wait to sign Jameis Winston" so they keep mum, and that silence is what fueled some of the Rodgers talk.
