I heard it was his son. Don't know if true but they haven't been the same. All I know is that when he was their they were a football factory much like West Hancock and Van Meter now.
Our staff hung out with the Madrid staff at a coaching clinic hosted by the screen printing company ( Graphics Edge) in Ft. Dodge every year when Trudo was Hinckle's OC. We use to die laughing when they'd tell stories about Trudo opening games with deep passes that were dropped by wide open receivers then Hinkle would snap, "SEE RUN THE ******* POWER."

My kids 2A school which didn't have a good year rolled a really bad 4A 45-0. So I can guarantee Van Meter could compete with most 4 and 5A schools. And against SE Polk most 5A schools are.............yikes. So I think a 1A school could live with that. Once again sorry to derail........but they are that good, just like the West Hancocks of the world.
I agree, Van Meter couldn't hang with the top 5a schools,

Your still making assumptions (basically talking out your ass) but I do see that Winterset has 66 kids listed on their varsity roster (So.-Sr) Van Meter has 82 that includes 20 FR. VAN Meter also has 10 assistant coaches. Normally I'd agree with you but Van Meter appears to be the exception.

I think you're talking out of your ass. Van Meter wants Bama!!

About six years ago my kids school drew Madrid in the first round of the playoffs. That is when after a 50 point deficit was reached the clock ran no matter what to shorten the game. That started in the 2nd quarter.

What are you derailing? I said they could compete with most of the 4A schools, and I said they would probably beat the bad 5As... Just because they beat Winterset doesn't mean it's a certainty.

Not exactly sure.
One school that just seems to continually be there and doesn’t get mentioned much is West Lyon. How many D1 and/or pro players have came out of there?

Wow! Pretty obvious block in the back on the screen for a TD for Ankeny.
Yep, not sure how they missed that. Also don't know why the Ankeny player did that because they weren't going to catch the guy with the ball.

Now 38-13. Valley getting taken to the woodshed now. Kohl with a nice deep ball for the score.

I turned over and watched the BB game other than the 20 minute half so I was wondering if the announcers ever notice SEP was using 6 offense linemen quite a bit?

Our guys played Madrid a couple of times years ago and got run off the field, but they were impressed with the great sportsmanship from the Madrid guys. I think if the top teams in A played the top teams in 1A it would be more like 6-4 or 7-3 1A but that's why they have classes.

And doesn't mean it's not. They did win, right? You are looking for an argument that was never set up to be one. I could care less if Van Meter beats the Green Bay Packers. I was just trying to make conversation.

This year proves yet again that there has to be a socioeconomic equalizer and that the 16 team suburban only class was by far the best proposal to reorganize everything.

This model made it even harder for the DSM publics, CR other than Kennedy, Davenport, Sioux City, Council Bluffs and Waterloo schools to compete.

I have no idea what anyone could do to allow the DSM publics to be more competitive outside of dropping them all to class A? Because my kids school is 2A.....didn't have a good season at all (won 3 games), and there largest margin of victory was against a DSM public 4A.....45-0.
