I don't think you can sell hope for next year. That's how bad of a state the football program is in right now. The only selling point he has for next year is SEZ (the new video board and ribbon boards are part of that expansion/renovation project). New uniforms are nice, but unless you are Orgeon you don't sell a program on that. JP isn't going to lower ticket prices until it's clear nobody's showing up for games.

Let's just say this - if we start 1-4 or 0-5 against the start of the 2015 schedule, I don't know how you sell anything after that.
This. There is absolutely no hope to sell. You know what you are getting next season.

Here's how you sell tickets for next season:
"Come and See the Team getting hammered by College Football Playoff Contenders"
"Come to the Stadium - Misery Loves Company":jimlad:

On a serious note: beat UNI and the Hawks. That will be a good start. Lose to UNI: JP better find a way to pay for CPR's buyout.

You know what you shouldn't do after 5 wins in 2 seasons? Raise the already high ticket prices.

Oh, we are doing just that? Nevermind, carry on.

I agree that raising ticket prices is stupid, but to call them "already high" is wrong. High for the product on the field? Maybe, but ISU has some of the most affordable ticket prices for both football and men's basketball. With tickets as low as 175 for a reserved seat and 99 dollars for a hillside I don't think we can really complain about "high" ticket prices. There is a reason our attendance has been so high with such a poor product.

This is not a fire CPR thread. If you are JP, how do you realistically sell and market seats next year?

Favorable schedule?
SEZ?
new video ribbon and scoreboard?
new uniforms? More alternate helmets?
Lower ticket prices?
Sell beer in the stadium?

In politics, you sell hope by lying. A LOT. And hoping when the truth comes out it's too late. Kind of like after a coach signs a long term contract.

I have no hope for next season. Especially if there are no staff changes.

The spring hype will be a piece of art. Always have a winner at the spring game. Now that VEISHA is dead, the spring game is the awesome centerpiece. We look so good playing against ourselves.

Some thinking-outside-the-box ideas:

1. Louder tornado sirens that go off right when opposing QB gets into throwing motion.
2. Big12 ref appreciation night when everyone in attendance gets a ref shirt and free whistles.
3. Commit to have CPR available for one of these right after each game:

JP will need to focus on everything BUT the football. Because it will guaranteed be awful again.

Try to sell the gameday experience, the new SEZ, stadium improvements, etc.

Maybe (serious suggestion) do basketball ticket giveaways to encourage attendance?

There is no hope.

Who the hell is going to play defense on this team? Look around, we barely have enough linebackers to field a team.

How is the offense going to be any better? Could be worse.

Anyone with a brain, much like this year knows what they are getting next year. Just way to many recruiting misses.

Not for the season ticket holders sitting in the stands and tailgating. This is about selling season tix, not winning football games.

The Iowa State season ticket holder goes out at halftime and barely makes it back into the game before the 4th quarter when ISU is playing K-State and is winning the game at that point. For ISU fans it is all about the tailgating and the party. Always has been.

Next year the schedule is very favorable. Warm weather games. Both UNI and Iowa at home in a newly expanded Jack Trice Stadium. First 2 games are guaranteed sellouts against UNI and Iowa. And the 3rd home game is a sellout as well against Kansas. After that we have TCU at home on Oct. 17 and the Homecoming game with Texas on Oct. 31. Last home game is Nov. 14 against Oklahoma State. Students won't be on Thanksgiving break. We will have decent attendance.
