What could be some reasons why others would not want to join the lawsuit? Dekkers and the other football players?
Do they have a separate case against them? Only other thing I can think of is they just want to put it behind them but in this case that doesn’t really make sense.

I have personally experienced this as a government employee. Government insurers hate jury trials. In my experience. Ask for twice as much as you want. Cynical? Yes.

I have experience in this area as well. Government lawyers also hate risk and will push to settle cases that have zero merit because of fear of a rouge jury or judge. It just rewards people for filing if they know they can get a nuisance settlement.

Is this a lawsuit that those who plead guilty to make it go away can join? I thought you lost a lot of those rights if you have plead guilty.

If things were determined to be done illegally then it might open up that avenue?

Sure. All the pretrial things will happen. They will settle before the trial starts.

a buddy of mine is school district attorney for over 25 years , he swears they will get this over a quick as possible with all receiving a nice $ amount and won't see the inside of a court room

It makes sense when considering there is probably more info we don't know that the government would like to keep that way.

A good friend of mine is pretty close to Dekkers. I'm about 99% sure part of his plea deal and having the charges reduced was signing a waiver saying he wouldn't sue.

I'm no attorney, which is probably painfully obvious by this question. I know this is a suit for athletes and potential lost earnings, but if this is found to be an illegal search, doesn't that open the door for every person who was inside those geofences to also sue on a civil rights violation?

I’m no legal wizard, but I’m guessing any terms of a plea deal if done under these pretenses are no longer applicable.

It it was determined that the search was illegal in the first place, that changes things, IMO.
