Eleven more former athletes from Iowa State and Iowa have joined a group of 26 athletes in a lawsuit that accuses the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation of violating their constitutional rights by using warrantless searches in a sports gambling investigation, according to a report from WHO.

The Iowa State athletes joining the lawsuit include former wrestlers Paniro Johnson, Carter Schmidt, Corey Cabanban, Sam Schuyler, Nate Schon, Drew Woodley, football’s Jeremiah Trey Mathis III and track & field’s Cameron Jones

Others joining the suit include Terry Roberts, Brennan Swafford, and Evan Schuster.

The group is seeking unspecified damages for losses they claim happened due to losses of playing time caused by an illegal investigation.

The plaintiffs were added to the suit were given authority to join it by Eyioma Uwazurike, via Sandy Law Firm and Palmer Perlstein.

The group is arguing that the geofence used by the Iowa DCI equates to a warrantless search.

Some athletes in the group pled guilty to underage gambling, while others weren’t charged at all, but still suspended from their respective sports.

The full list of athletes involved in the suit can be seen in the above linked report by WHO.
