Tough to put in order but have seen some great shows:

-Dave Matthews Band (with unnanounced special guest Neil Young), Ben Harper, Jack Johnson as openers, evidently My Morning Jacket opened also - Vote for Change Tour, Hilton, Ames IA, 2004
-Billy Corgan - solo acoustic (only show that I know of) - Metro, Chicago 2004
-John Mayer - Schubas, Chicago, unnanounced until a few hours before the show and had a buddy that worked at this ~200 capacity bar that got me in
-Tom Petty (with Stevie Nicks) - Bonnaroo 2005?
-Black Crowes, Jack Johnson, O.A.R. - Bonnaroo 2004, all were playing at the same time and caught bits of all three great shows within two hours
-Roger Clyne & the Peacemakers - anywhere - one of the best live shows you will ever see
-Coldplay - UIC Pavillion, Chicago 2003 - right before they got really big
-U2 - Target Center, Minneapolis 2001 - Elevation Tour, this show was during finals week. My buddy picked me up immediately after a 4pm final, drove straight to the show from Ames, watched the show, drove right back, got back around 5:30 am, stayed up until 9 am to take my next final. AND made Dean's List.
-Greyboy AllStars - Aggie Theatre, Fort Collins CO 2009
-White Stripes and Flaming Lips - Aragon Ballroom, Chicago - New Year's Eve - clips from this show are on the Flaming Lips documentary

Interesting side topic: shows that you could have easily gone to, but didn't for some stupid reason
-My Morning Jacket, Red Rocks 2008 - heard was an epic show, had just moved to CO and was pinching pennies
-James Brown - Harrah's Stir Cove, Council Bluffs 2007? - This show was about a month before Mr. Brown passed away, one I never got to see
-The Nadas final show @ Peoples - I was fishing in Canada with my grandfather, so I made the right choice, but it was tough to miss that one

I just missed the MMJ show last summer at RR. I had won some tickets and didn't get the message until the following day. I hear it might have been the best show of the summer in Colorado.

1. Slipknot/Slayer co-headline (God Forbid opener)- Five Seasons Center
2. KISS/Ted Nugent/Skid Row - Five Seasons Center
3. NIN - Wells Fargo Arena
4. Sevendust Fan Appreciation Show ($5 tickets!) - Five Seasons Center
5. Disturbed (Music as a Weapon IV) - Val Air
6. HURT - anytime they play in a bar. They're better in the small venues IMO
7. Slipknot/Lamb of God/Shadows Fall - Hilton
8. A Perfect Circle - Five Seasons Center
9. Mudvayne - Val Air
10. Local H - VEISHEA

I will never go to see Avenged Sevenfold again. I got dragged to that thing and it sucked something fierce. After a Korn show I had a headache for 3 days because there was so much smoke in the place, but they were good.

Going along with top 10 lists, what are your 10 favorite concerts you've been to.

Here's mine.

HM: Paul McCartney - not my favorite style, but great to see a legend.
10. Rascal Flatts/Blake Shelton - got to sit on the floor and had a good view.
9. Plain White Tees/Relient K/Hawthorn Heights.
8. Less than Jake - They played a free show at ISU and I was coincidentally playing tennis nearby so it was cool to play tennis and hear a band that I liked.
7. Local H - For a 2 guy show at Veishea, they rocked. Show had some good mosh pits going as well.
6. 3 Doors Down/Sevendust/Creed - This was way back when 3 Doors Down were nobodies. Fun concert at Hilton.
5. Anberlin/Relient K
4. 38th Parallel/Stellar Kart (bash on the farm) - anytime I've seen 38th parallel, it has been great. Like their music, they have a good message and I knew the guys in the band.
3. Pax 217/Slick Shoes/Supertones
2. John Reuben/Pillar/Sanctus Real/Relient K/Supertones - Awesome lineup
1. Relient K/Switchfoot/Supertones - back when all 3 bands were nobodies. My first concert as a teenager and we made our way up to the front. One guy in our group even won a dance competition.

I can't rank them really but here are a few.

Oingo Boingo - Col Ballroom, Davenport - '88
Drive By Truckers - Bluebird, '08
Wilco - Colorado Springs - '08
Springsteen - solo accoustic - '04?
REM - Palmer College - Halloween '87
Liz Phair - Ogden Theater - Denver '95?
Bob Mould - Fox Theater - Boulder '98
Phish - Red Rocks - '95
Widespread Panic/Wilco/Drive By Truckers - OutsideLands Festival, San Francisco '08
Wilco - July 3rd, 2009 Red Rocks (I have a feeling about this one)

Specials in Spokane 2007-ish?
They Might Be Giants - Spokane 2007-ish...
Springsteen in Ames 1989-ish? Hate the guy but great showman.
Clapton in Ames - extremely professional and enjoyable show.
Waybacks in Sandpoint, ID. Newgrass band from SanFran...
Chick Corea - Ames 1982-ish?

WORST CONCERT... Bo Diddley at Peoples if its even still there. Bo knows how NOT to please an audience.

Jack wasn't there that night. He had played w/Ben Harper in Ames in 2003.

My bad. I was at both of those shows, kind of easy to confuse the two.

I also saw the Jack/Ben combo around 2001/2ish? at the Paramount in Cedar Rapids, before anyone had heard of Jack and Ben still played fairly small venues.

Oh, I loved the M-Shop, it was a great place to check out a show. Definitely have fond memories of the place, but no show I saw there can really crack the top-ten. Yo La Tengo in '04 comes the closest, but ultimately it was too sloppy, being a benefit show and all.
