    Also, I would be remiss if I didn't point out that Gary Thompson is something of a unicorn in Iowa State history. He was an All-American in two sports - a basketball point guard AA and a baseball short stop AA. Amazing!

    Also remember that coaches are a bit more of a star in the college game than the pro game. In college it is still rare that a high level coach has player(s) making more than him. In the pros, it is pretty much a given.

    They still use their fingers but instead of doing one number on each hand they do one number with both hands, then the second number with both hands. Kind of like the NBA has been doing it for decades. Rocket science it isn't.

    This made me think about how the Emerald Ash Borer is changing baseball - likely forever. Ash used to the go-to wood for MLB bats, but there is less and less quality ash wood available every year.
