Lipsey is the key I think.

Losing KG sucks, but he hadn’t been right for a while, and the team still played well without him.

We’ll see how the matchups shake out.

yeah, I don't love that Tamin is only 'likely', but you know he'll play if he is at all able.

In my opinion, it's an injury that hasn't improved and he's still tried to give it a go. At this point, if it's a lower body injury and you can't move at +80% you're likely to really get taken advantage of at the D1 level. With a lose and go home situation now you just don't have minutes to risk not being at your best.
Hopefully, Lipsey isn't in the same boat by Friday. I'll be keeping a close eye on him those first few minutes to see if something flares up. In a perfect world we get a sizeable lead early and can rest Tamin until Sunday.

I think what we'll see on Friday is a 'pitch count' for Tamin. If the team takes care of business and buries Lipscomb early, he'll likely come out.

I’m sorry, there is almost no way you can convince me it’s only an injury. He is out going forward? The way I hear that, is even if they make the NC in a month he’s not coming back. Unless it’s a torn muscle, I just can’t fathom this.
He said it's been bothering him since Colorado game on December 30. Trainers have stated the type of injury doesn't heal quickly.

Yeah, this feels like the Niang foot injury, that caps our ceiling significantly.

Maybe. But Lipsey has played better without Gilbert as he’s tried finding his own shot. And Heise has picked it up since Gilbert’s been out. So I don’t think it’s the same as Niang getting hurt so late that there wasn’t a chance to adjust without him. There’s going to be a lot more pressure on Jefferson and Momcilovic.

Have you ever had a groin injury? For all we know it could be a sports hernia.

I assume that’s exactly what is going on. Kinda have mixed feelings about it. If the injury isn’t as serious and he could play then he needs to play. Don’t quit on the team right at tourney time.

I think it's just a thing where the injury is worse than it was and that's it. As @Cyched said he was with the team int he selection show.

He tried to go last Wednesday and struggled.

Guess we'll find out Friday if there's any 'extracurricular' aspect to this.

If Keshon is there and cheering on his teammates, hopefully we can put that to bed.

So why did he keep playing at that point? Seems counter productive if the end goal is the NCAA tournament.

Because he could move on it but it possibly got worse. He was limping in a lot of games.

It may have just been a strain that they couldn't get to heal right and it finally tore.

That doesn't mean the end goal wasn't the NCAA tournament.

If a healthy Lipsey controls the offense, limits turnovers and the role players (Heise, D Watt, Kelderman, Chat, etc.) help out with confidence like they have recently, I think ISU will be okay.

I wonder does KG require surgery?

If we can get 10-12 points from Heise and Jefferson controls the game/is a matchup nightmare, I still like the ceiling for this team. Our offensive flow has been better without KG recently.

Do you keep CuJo coming off the bench?

My guess is: it’s a Lisfranc type injury and he’s getting advice to sit.

Because a re-injury leading to surgery can be a year.
