Bulls are gonna be real bad. Lineup of
Kris Dunn
D-wayde(if still on roster)
Lavine/Zipser(depending on ACL)
Bobby Portis
The other lopez brother.
After that it's a collection of talentless point guards and non-nba players. And Markannen, who they reached on.
This is why I'm not a GM. Thanks for the info!Yes, Thomas makes about $6M this year, maybe the best contract in the league, so taking that money off the cap doesn't do much. It's actually more like $50M they would need to move to have enough room for a max deal. They are way over the cap.
According to the link below, they are at $114M for next year, which is without Thomas. And for some reason that doesn't have Korver's new deal on there which is another $7M, so that's about $120M, assuming the cap is around $100M next year, they have to get down to the $70-$75M range to carve out enough room for a max deal, plus if they keep the Nets pick, that's another few million cap hold to add in.

Man, I don't know. There are a ton of angles to this trade and I'm not sure who came out on top. My gut feeling is that Cleveland won because they got a much better return for a superstar than the Pacers or Bulls did this summer and they dodn't sacrifice their status as the conference favorites. They dealt one elite score first PG that can't or won't defend well against the Warriors for another and added a quality wing plus (potentially) a top five pick in 2018. And if Lebron bails after next season then they've got some flexibility to kickstart a rebuild. For a rookie GM, I thought Koby Altman nailed it. It would be helpful to the Cavs if they got some sort of indication from Lebron what he's planning on doing after the 17-18 season but he's going to let them twist in the wind. The two unknowns that will ultimately swing the deal are:
1. What's Kyrie's ceiling now that he's not playing alongside Lebron? Is he more than just a scoring PG? If he is, then maybe the Celts won the deal.
2. Where does that Nets pick fall in 2018? Just glancing at the list of NBA teams, I see eight teams right now that could have a worse record than Brooklyn - the Knicks, Kings, Suns, Lakers, Bulls, Pacers, Magic, and Hawks. Maybe New Orleans if everything falls apart with Boogie and Brow. As has been noted already, the Nets have no incentive to tank, so that pick could easily become a tenth overall pick - still useful, but outside of the cream of the crop.
Cleveland could easily rebuild around Bagley or Porter. Lebron and Thomas will probably both leave in the offseasonAgree. Let IT walk next summer and use his money on a high-end free agent (Chris Paul, Russ Westbrook, Paul George). Hope Brooklyn sucks again. Draft high-end rookie prospect (Bagley, Porter, Ayton). Keep LeBron. Win.

I think they're going to buy Wade out. It's just a question of when. And then I expect to see him in Cleveland.

First round pick as in Jayson Tatum? Or 2018 FR?I think the Cavs would except Boston's first round pick and go with it.
Boston plans on being good, right?
