You think that this team is going to win 30 games and not make the playoffs this season???

No, that's what Wiggins and Towns have given you so far. I think mid 40's and maybe a second round appearance is most likely for Minnesota this year.

Useful. I think people who aren't Wolves fans don't understand just how hard it is to get people to come to Minnesota williningly. That is fine if people don't think Wiggins is worth that money yet, but after watching what he has done and how he has improved over the last 2 seasons with KAT at his side, I just do not get how people think players like Gary Harris are comparable to what he has done. Yeah his defense has been bad, but he did show ability when having to guard the best player on the floor most nights last year, where that will be Jimmy's job this year. KAT had a historically bad DRating for a big man last year, but not many people talk about that because they feel like he will improve.. based on nothing. But, hey, I am not too worried about either because of how we are set up currently.

I really do like hearing what other people have to say about their thoughts on Minnesota sports, so it's too bad I can't get a discussion about it now that it is a for sure.

Towns is still a very productive player even if he doesn't improve his defense. That's a huge difference here. Towns is a perfect modern day big man offensively, he can shoot, he finishes, he's a good rebounder, he can pass, he can score efficiently. Wiggins is an inefficient offensive player, he's not a particularly great finisher despite being super athletic, he's not a great outside shooter, he doesn't rebound, he doesn't create. He's been a volume scorer, who's about to have that volume reduced by a better player with a similar game joining the team.

Understandable. I think a big key to the win total this year is actually the role players that were brought in. The last 3 years we have little and less coming off the bench. Now you have Giorgui, J Crossover, Bjelica A Brooks and bazz. That is an actual bench, not Tyus Jones and Cole Aldrich. That is a far bigger key to success than people may be thinking.

I did forget the signed Crawford in my earlier post, I do like that pickup even if he really does not seem like a Thibs guy. He can help space the floor which I think they might struggle with.

Maybe this is where the disagreement comes with Wiggins. Watching these games he isn't forcing shots, he isn't taking his team out of the offense every time he gets the ball and chucking up terrible shots. I think last year is a microcosm of that. He started out very efficient in both FG and 3P%. Then he was hobbled and playing with an injury for half of January and when he gets healthy, that is when Lavine went down with his injury. It was obvious KAT and Wiggins were asked to play a bigger role offensively, where they had lots of plays drawn up for them, but it was known they were going an iso or 2 man P&R game and people zeroed in on them and made the other guys beat them. Then, the only time anyone other than Wiggins was shooting the 3 consistently last year, Bjelica went down and that was that.

In my eyes, I thought bringing in another scorer was a great thing for Wiggins and KAT, as it will force the other team to respect another threat on the floor.

3 Point consistency is the only thing I was hoping they were able to snag in a FA target, that we didn't end up getting. I think Wiggins can be around 37.5-40% this year, and Jimmy G Buckets will shoot his threes when he feels he can make them, but other than that a bunch of streaky 3 point shooters.

Wiggins was a really good catch and shoot 3 point shooter last year. 40%. Problem was, as you pointed out above, he was asked to score out of a lot of ISO situations and so he didn't have as many catch and shoot as you would like him to get.

Agreed, and I think Jimmy Butler (another threat to score) and Jeff Teague (a respected penetrating/passing PG) to take some eyes off of him and get the ball to him in good spots. Excited to see if he can make that percentage jump this year.

Embiid with 22 points, 7 rebounds, 3 assists, and a block in 15 minutes last night. I know he's a KU guy and all, but damn. If he can ever stay healthy that guy is going to be an absolute beast. I like the upside for the Sixers. I'm still not sure about the Fultz deal and Simmons' lack of an outside shot, but if nothing else they should be really fun to watch.

Embiid is a freak.

Yeah. Just a scary injury history...stress fracture in his back that ended his KU career, two foot surgeries, torn meniscus. It's hard to keep big guys healthy. The Knicks are worried about the same thing with Porzingis. I don't know his official weight but he doesn't look like he carries anywhere near as much bulk on his frame as Embiid does.
